Default Lugnut Will Not come off

Ive got a lugnut that will rotate freely around the stud but ill not come off. Any ideas on how to get it off? It looks as if the stud will need to be replaced also. Anyone have a writeup on how to do it?

How far up the threads will the lug go?? If you can cut the stud off behind the lug and just replace it or try torching the lug off...good luck.

its maybe a quarter of the way from the tip of the stud. it will not tighten or loosen from that point

I would just cut the lug off also, it is the only way it sounds like it will come off.

When that happens i usually take a breaker bar with the socket and pry up and down to snap the stud off where it's stripped. If that doesnt work i take the off all the lugs and pull the wheel toward me on the stud where it's stripped, By doing it that way you will be putting pressure on the stripped lug nut and it should catch good threads and come off.

what i had to do i had to drill out the damn ****, got a drill bit and started drilling right threw the nut, once i got past that i had to keep on drilling into the stud almost all the way in and pull out the nut with some pliers, cant really get the socket in and move it around like what the other guys are sayin on my rims. took me a couple of hours cuss i was pissed at the bitch but it came out then i had to run around town lookin for the damn stud. but get you a drill bit that is just a tad smaller than the studs diameter so you wont fkk up just in case. and like always get a good drill bit...or else you'll be burning the tip and having to buy a new one or sharpen it up...and go slow with the drill bit cuss speed over heats the tip and dulls it out fast. lol am i missin anything still?

Sounds like a plan. I'm at a dorm parking lot so it'd be a pain to bring power tools esp b/c i dont have mine here.

What is involved in putting in a new stud? Is it worth the time to do it or should i take it to the mechanic?

i just took the hub off of the car and walked over to the bench vise and securded the edge of where the wheel meets up to and just waked it with a 5 pound sledge out, it's real easy then when you get the new one just wake it back in real good. it's real easy the studs over here were 2 dollars a pop.

PHP Code:
I would just cut the lug off

I had to do that with 2 of my studs. just got someone with tiny hands to reach in and pull them out and put back in.

Your need to get that lug nut off before you can remove the stud.. once you do that all you need to do is remove the brake and hammer the stud out through the back and install the new stud through the back as well. use your lug nut to draw the stud back into the hole (it has splines on the stud to hold it in) and you should be set.
