Default Fender well plastics

Has anyone removed or cut the plastic guard in the fender wells? I am running G3 supersprings, QA1 shocks, and 18x10.5 x295 tires in the rear (z06) and 17x9.5 x275 in the front. I notice spots on both front and back of the plastic wells where the tire is rubbing from hitting bumps and bottoming out. What do you guys think? Can i remove the whole thing? should i just cut the part that is rubbing?

Thanks!

Mine are much worse off that those. I'm running 295s and am thinking 305 or 315 next time. The front of my liners are worn all the way across and feathered/tattered looking. Thinking about pulling the liners and maybe spraying some light truck bedliner in the wells to protect from debris.

I used 3M double sided tape to pull the liners back slightly to avoid the rubbing.

Granted the liners can be completely removed, but it opens up the door hinges to all the debris from the road . . . . . Stuff up front is minor.

You can also just get regular undercoating, which is meant just for that purpose. Probally same exact stuff though.

Thanks guys! i just emailed GM Muscle to see if he has any good thoughts to add to this. I think i will try to modify what is there. Definatley dont want road debris in the door... Anyone know whats on the other side of the fender metal? Can i put screws in if i cut the middle part of that out and kinda push it back a bit to make room? (i hope i am explaining my idea correctly).

I asume it's only rubbing the front half of the liners? Mine used to rub alot and it sounds like **** going around corners. The first thing you can do is cut out a rectangle area where the tire rubs, that really wouldn't create any issues. If you want to remove the whole liner on a daily driver it will take alittle more work though. First you will have to build a panel on each side to seperate the door jambs from the wheel wells. If you don't do this everything that comes off the back off the tire will go right down the door sill and up in the hinge area. It's really easy to fab up some thin aluminium plates for this, you will probrably need a right angle drill to screw them in though. You will also have to build something to protect the coolant overflow tank as it will be exposed to anything that possibly gets throw off the front of the tire as it comes around. I would think twice about spraying bedliner or undercoating in the wheel wells, it could turn out to be a real pain the *** acouple of years from now. I don't think over the counter bedliner would hold up since nobody is offering a real two part polyurathane like the pros use and it will be a pain to repair and an even bigger pain to remove. I would just give it the rattle can rustoleum once or twice a year.

Thanks! I think i am going to give cutting a try. I take it that its ok to screw into the wells.
