Default 165's or 185's on 3.5" rim & light car??? got pics?

hey guys........

input needed! i've got a fairly light weight car, guessing around 2800lbs with me in it when i'm done. i'm going to be doing highway & street driving with it, as well as some wheels up action eventually if all goes well.

anyway, should i go with 165/80/15's or 185/65/15's? both are 26" roughly. if you've got pics of a 165 or 185 tire on a 3.5" rim, it's time to show them off if you would. feel free to put up your $.02 on how you like them too.

TIA,
Dave

165/15s (belted radial) on a 15x 3.5 Prostar here.

3500lb car.

The lighter the better.

sounds like we have a winner in the 165. however, i would like to use a 26" MT Sportman because the 165/80's are said to be 24.5", but the MT's are double the price. according to jegs, the MT's are 15.8 lbs vs. 17 lbs for the 185/65's according to discount tire direct, not sure what the 165's weigh though. so, taller & lighter but more expensive vs shorter & heavier but 1/2 the price.......hmmm......is it worth the extra $100?

well also you gotta think the M/T are speed rated, the regular 165's are maybe rated at what 75mph?? i am not really for sure but i am going with the M/T for the added security when im doin one of my 90-150 rolls . i would put the extra $100 with it and get the tires that are made for speed. when you go the cheap route sometimes it will only hurt you. just my .02

the Khumo 165's are T speed rated (118 mph) & the Falken 185's are H speed rated (130 mph). speed ratings are continuous and not limited to their rating, they just don't recommend sustained speeds above it. it is also not recommended to mix bias ply with radials which is what the MT fronts are vs the radial rears. this isn't really a concern as i did not have any problems running them together before because the fronts are so much thinner. the problem from my understanding is a difference in grip from bias vs radial, but this is not a corner carver. i do however appreciate your input and others. i'd be much more comfortable with the Falkens in the rain either by myself, and or especially with my wife and kids in the car if that should happen. for that reason, i believe i will be going with the slightly wider 185's because the Falken's look to have a nice wet weather pattern with a nice looking tread pattern. here's a link to a pic......

So....does anyone here run a 185/65/15 on a 3 1/2" rim??????? if so, can you post up and better yet, post a pic?

thanks again.
