Default 4 new problems with the WS.6

Well, the 2 rear are more pressing, but I want to replace all 4 tires

What came OEM on a 2001 WS6 with the 275/40/17 WS6 rim/tire combo?

I have been considering several and wanted to take a poll and see which one you guys recommend

I want a tire that performs well in all areas (except snow and mud and other dumb stuff, but wet traction (oxy moron?) is important to me.

Thx, lol. I figured I would get a lotta smart guys viewing the thread with that title. A lot of you guys have helped me out and I figured I could count on you again! Are you voting KDW or saying its OEM? I have KDW's on it now and have nothing bad to say about them. They are HELLA BETTER! than the Cooper Zeons I had on my old LT1.

KDW or KDWSs are very good tirs to me. eagle F1s are very close second.

Stock tire was the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS (non-runflat, non-D3). Personally, I hated them on my WS6.

I've been using the BFG KDW since about 2003 on my previous T/A and current Camaro. Great tire in every way. I'd highly recommend these for street use.

Run flats suck horribly, extremely heavy, hard and expensive. From that selection I'd get Goodyear GS-D3's. Great wet and dry traction, miles ahead of a regular 555. But you'll pay for it.

None of the tires in your poll even compare to Michelin Pilot Sports.

The KDW is a good tire, and much cheaper. But the performance aspects of that tire in the dry, aren't even close.

Stock Goodyear Eagle F1s are crap. One of the worst tires I've ever driven on.

I dislike Goodyear GSD3s for a variety of reasons. A lot of people use them here, and they are cheap. So I usually leave that one alone....

Nittos are...cheap. I'd never buy a set, but they handle dry/wet conditions decently.

Another tire, that isn't commonly seen on this board are the Toyos. The Toyo Proxes RA-1 is actually a very good tire...

We've been putting them on a lot of BMWs at our shop lately. They ride smooth and quiet. Good in the dry/wet, and they balance up on our machines very well.

Three tires I'd recommend you to take a look at...

Michelin Pilot Sport - awesome tire, tends to chop on the outsides of the tire with aggresive alignment specs. These go very well in the rain in most conditions. Though with such a wide tire, I've hydro planned a couple times in DOWNPOURS. That's nothing that I wouldn't expect given the dry handling characterisitics of the tire. If you can cough up the cash for them, I recommend them! (I run these in 275/35/18s up front, 295/35/18s out back)

BF Goodrich is an awesome wet/dry condition tire. It does both very well, not much else to say

Toyo Proxes - RA-1 see above. Another great all around tire. Both the KDW, and RA1 are cheaper than the Michelin. So it's up to you how much you want to spend.

Let me know if I can be more specific on anything.

Rob

So far I like the F1 GSD3's. The Pilot Sports are well...$300 a pop and I am not that rich. I really like the LOOK of the F1 GSD3's as well. I saw a set on a Z28 and think they would look sick on a black WS6 (not THAT EXACT set...these cars have locking lug nuts )

Anyways, you dislike them, so I want to know why (I looked at the Proxes RA-1 and it was only A-A instead of AA-A traction rated )

BAD *** TA, which BFG's are you referring to toward the end of your post? BLKWS.6, last time I checked the GSD3's were $289 per tire (unless that way maybe for 315's) so they are up there with the BFG KD's and Michelin Pilots

Had both KDWs and GSD3s
GSD3s are better.

I've had all those tires. I liked the KDW2's the best, they were excellent in the rain, quiet on the road, had deep treads that didn't wear out too quickly, and looked killer.

Nittos are my 2nd choice, good bang for the buck tire, not quite as sticky as KDW's but they also seem to last a long time.

BTW, only newbies write it WS.6

I have slight OCD and therefor that does not apply to me

The 275/40/17's GSD3 were $201 a tire from tirerack. I will call a friend and see if he can do better...

I like the BFG KDW's or some Pirelli PZero Nero's. I had the pirellis on my WS6 and I really liked them and they are cheaper than the bfg's and rate very well on Tirerack.com

Not a bad price, but after shipping your still looking at almost $900. Where as DTD does them for $211 with free shipping! However they are listed as back order.
