Default RUFF 5 x 120mm,,,, will they fit a camaro?

im considering a set of RUFF 281 wheels for my camaro, the sizes are 19 x 8.5 with a 35mm offset for the front and a 19 x 9.5 with a 40mm offset in the rear. will these offsets require the BFH mod or will they make the wheels tuck to much? my car has stock springs and i dont really want to lower it becouse i have flowtech headers, so i allready have minimal ground clearance. finally, i have heard that this bolt pattern will "work" on camaros, will they just bolt right on or will they require some grinding work to make them fit?

"Technically" the bolt pattern is wrong. 5 x 120 vrs 5 x 120.65 . . . . Will they go on? Yes.

The offsets are fine, and should not require any body mods.

Staggered wheels look like **** on an f-body. They aren't meant for staggered wheels, makes the front tire look too tall compared to the rear tire profile.

19s all around do not look ghetto if you go with the right wheels.

True dat.
I've seen your red SS w/19's on all 4 and it worked just fine, but most don't.
Come on now NB you know most of the guys here don't understand this concept at all, just some. IMHO
I think staggered 17/18's on fbodys works the best.
With the right wheel/look and offset they look pretty damn nice.

Personally i'm sticking with 17's on all 4 myself cause i keeps it real.

Will any problems come about with puttin 5x120 pattern wheels on? Like will they be more likly to come loose or break off studs? Or will they work perfectly fine?

I'm planning on Ruf 278's next month...i'm going with 45mm rear though...i think 40mm will stick out too much, plus my car is lowered and I don't want to bother with fender mods (not even sure it will need it, but not taking any chances).

I've heard people saying "i will never put 5x120 wheels on my car, they are WRONG!!!!". That's dumb. If you think about the difference between 5x120 and 5x120.65 in terms of a 5 point pattern...the actual offset of the lugs will end up being less than .3mm!!! Look at a MM on a ruler, then imagine 1/3rd of that. You are freakin out about that?! Theoretically, MAYBE it could put a bit of extra strain on the lugs, but the alloy the wheels are made of will compress slightly too when you tighten down the lugs, reducing the deflection even more. Basically, having the engineering background I have and knowing a bit about this sort of thing, I say you're crazy if you think it's going to be a problem.

There is, however one detail to remember... the centerbore of these wheels is bigger than the hub mount on our cars, you WILL need an adapter. If you don't use an adapter, you can throw the wheel off center when you tighten the lugs (yeah like i just said it would be like .1mm at most, but spin a wheel like that up to 100mph, and you'll notice it quickly).

So keep that in mind, and enjoy...post some pics too if you get yours before me.

those "adapters" are annoying to find locally. and even so, they are hard to get the correct size. its sounds stupid, but it really is more annoying than it sounds. the small difference in bolt pattern makes for some annoying vibrations. i'm not saying anything against you, i'm just bitter in general towards them

Sweet looking car. It sits just right!

I was going to get some Ruff wheels in the 5 x 120mm. I changed my mind because every single tire shop that I talked to advised against it. I told these shops in advance that I would be buying online and would install myself and they still did not recommend it. Also for the Tomzwheels advocates they also were against it as well.

I think that the majority of the time it would not cause a problem since it is a pretty small difference. But as another post mentioned tolerances, yes there are tolerances but what happens if: The wheel tolerance is at the most positive extreme and say the bolt pattern on your car is the opposite extreme???? I don't know if this would cause a definite problem or not I just did not want to risk it. It makes me feel warm and fuzzy knowing that i have the correct bolt pattern.

I agree, the 17/18 and 18/19 combo just don't look right on fbody's seeing, unlike the Vette, all four of our wheel wells are the same size. This will mean that you will either have more sidewall from front to back or more wheel well gap from front to back. If you choose to have more wheel well gap between the two than more than likely your ABS won't be happy either seeing they will be different rolling diameters (circumference).
