Talking This is about WHEELS, so I'm posting it in the WHEELS forum

As I posted earlier in the week, I got new (to me) rims. I got tires mounted today (BFG KDW's), gave her a VERY quick bath and snapped some ad-hoc pictures.

And some close-ups of the new wheels and tires:
Front:

Rear:

Comparison shot. The old ZR1's (17x11 with Goodyear GSD3's) vs. the Fikses (17x9.5 with BFG KDW's).
Old:

New:

In the end, I've always wanted FM5's and the right deal came along at the right time. While I loved how the 315/35/17's looked, I got tired of them rubbing, even after re-centering and a lot of hammering. Plus, I like the tread pattern of the BFG's better, and I can actually rotate my tires now.

The FM-5's look great man, and normally I don't like black wheels on NBM, but it looks good. The only downside to the swap? You're ZR1's made your car look really mean from the back, now, a little less mean.

I think they would look perfect with polished or chrome centercaps

I don't disagree with you on any of your points. I was very hesitant about black rims too, but once I saw them on, I was sold. It does look a little less mean, but I like being able to take a sharp turn without wincing when my rear tires rub.

I'm kind of thinking about getting polished center caps and polished lugs to match. I dunno, I think the all black looks more sinister, but the polished parts would be more eye-catching.

That's OK, I've always though FM10's were too busy for Camaros, so there.

(yes, I'm kidding)

I like the wheels, like the car, but not sure about the combo together. The car needs more black accents to go with the wheels. I'd recommend black hockey stripes and a gloss black tail panel.

I'm not a fan of hockey stripes, but I agree it needs more black accents. I'm thinking I might eventually get an SS hood and spoiler and do a black manta on the hood and maybe the black back panel. And a black billet grille, to sort of tie it all together. The 12-bolt is black too, even though you can't really see it.

Looks good, Mike. How do the KDWs compare to the GS-D3s?

The KDW sidewalls are a little stiffer, which I like. There's a little more road noise with the KDW's. Traction seems about the same, but I haven't really pushed the new tires yet, so I'm calling that an unknown at this point. I haven't tried wet performance yet either, but I can't imagine anything will perform as well as the GS-D3's in the rain.

I guess you can do things like go back from an 11" to a 9.5" when you're not putting any power to the ground Congrats on the new purchase. I'll be interested to see what touches you add to the car/wheels soon.
