I was always gonna get some TTM's with 275/45R17's but after seeing some other T/A's on this site I'm considering 18's in a different rim. The problem is I really hate low profile tires. I don't want a rim so large that it can be damaged when the tires are put on, and I also want to have enough tire to get good traction cause I drive my car pretty hard from time to time. What size tire can I put on an 18 x 9 or 18 x 9.5 inch rim. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also I'm gonna lower the car with Strano springs so that should be taken into account. If anyone has any pics to help me see what I'm trying to find out that would help too. Thanks.

For either 18x9 or 18x9.5 you ideally should use a 275/35/18 because that will keep you very very close to the stock f-body tire sizes. It would not noticeable affect your speedo.
My car, in my sig pic, is lowered on Hotchkis springs (about 1.2"), and those are 18x9.5 wheels with 275/35/18.
Thanks, do you expierence any traction problems or do you hook pretty good with 35 series tires?
Umm...well that's all relative because i'm modified, but my assertion is that I definetly lost traction by going with a smaller sidewall, even though I went to a much better tire. Then I put on progressive springs, and that annihilated any chance of good traction. I can light up the tires with the clutch fully engaged in second gear. Which works out nicely for me because i'm not much of a racer, and the car gives the illusion of being insanely powerful which is usually enough to scare off the import guys. So I like it.
So in short, if you want max traction, you don't want 18's. But on stock hp and stock suspension, it shouldn't be bad at all.
One of my good buddies, both of us have similarly modded Formulas, has a set of Firehawks with 275/40/17 kdw2's on them and I have stock 16's with Kuhmo 711 performance all seasons. My car hooks much better at the track because of more sidewall. He even has LCA's and a panhard bar plus Koni DA's and I have stock suspension with Koni SA's and I am consistently a coup0le of tenths bettter at 60'. His combo does better than mine in the street, and his car feels much better cornering because of the lower profile sidewall.
