BFG or Nittos
BFG or Nittos I was wondering what tire you all would recomend getting... the BFG KDW's or the Nitto 555r's. I only put about 5k miles on a year and would like to get something that i can get some good traction at the street and the track and still last. I have the stock rims so it would be a 245/50/16 tire. My current setup it full exhaust, 4.10's, slp flow pac, ls7 clutch n ls2 flywheel and in the near future will have a torquer 2 cam. any suggestions would be helpful..... thanks
I've got a set of 255/50R16 BFG Drag Radials on my Z28 that get pretty good traction, but wouldn't recommend them in the rain. Check out the link below, I found the comparisons listed to be very interesting.

For a drag radial I would get the BFG's since you dont drive that much. I think they are a lil stickier than the Nittos but wont last as long. I think the BFG's look cooler too...... Do they make a 275/40/17 BFG DR? It says so on their site but cant find it at a distributor.
I would go with BFG in either the drag (limited to around 140mph) or the KDW or KDW2 which are rated top notch 180+ along with having a very stiff sidewall . I have seen horry stories of nittos sidewalls giving out when driving in other than straight lines . BFG make a really good tire from my experince and the kdw is good in the rain , dry track , sttreet or whatever .

5k a year? Get Mickey Thompsons DR's, nothing hooks better. They will fit on your stock rim, they are cheap. 255/50/R16 I believe.
I have Nitto's but I put a lot of miles on my car. I currently have about 40% tread at around 17K on the nittos, but I don't do much of a burnout before racing.

i have been debating the same thing..i have heard good and bad about both and dont know which one to go with. i go the the track about 6 or 7 times a year. but i get the occasional street race every now and then. which is going to last on the streets with daily driving?
