I just bought a set or Cray Scorpions for my vette, not the one in my sig but just like it. Does a 245/40/17 look ok on a 9in wheel? Just wondering, and if anyone has any pics that would be nice.

i used to be running them on the front of my T/A they were bfgoodrich traction t/a's and those were on a 9.5" rim. they sit pretty good on there i think a 9" rim would be perfect for them.

Those should really be on a 7-8" wheel. I wouldn't run it on my car, it's going to look stretched. Also easily prone to wheel damage if you hit any potholes by accident.

Why wouldnt you run the normal 245/45/17? By going with a 40 series you losing sidewall which might look a little better but the ride will be rougher and the wheels are more likely to bend from potholes.

I have 255/40/17's on the front of my car on 17x9.5 wheels and they are flush. You should be perfect with the 245 but you want a 45 series profile.

245-45-17 is not a normal size on any model f-body. Nor is it even close to being the right size tire to put on a 9.5" wide rim.

It will not be perfect. Also you must not understand tire sizes if you think going to a 45 series on a 245 will make it the same diameter as a 255-40.

May I ask why you want to run a 245?

245/40 = 24.7x12.4
275/40 = 25.7x12.8

so 1" shorter and .4 skinnier so might do with a 9" wheel. It might if been the brand tires i saw but i dropped the wheel and when it fell all you herd is the wheel hit the ground and both is front tries had rash.

According to the tire sizing chart at Tire Rack:

255 40ZR 17 would fit a 9" rim and have a diameter of 25"

255 45ZR 17 would fit a 8.5" rim and have a diameter of 26"

275 40ZR 17 would fit a 9.5" rim and have a diameter of 25.7"

So if a person wanted to run 275 40ZR 17" in the rear, could they run the 255 40ZR 17 in the front on the same size rim which would be 9.5" ?? That's my question.

The reason I'm want to know is because my T/A is slammed and I don't want rubbing issues in the front.

Would it matter if you ran a 25.7" diameter in the rear and a 25" diameter in the front....will that work OK ??

Or do you think I can run the 275 40ZR 17" on all four corners without rubbing issues in the front on a 9.5" ZR1 wheel.

If anyone can understand what I'm trying to understand....please help!!

Eddie

They look ok, a little streched. I bought my wheels used and thats what came on them. As soon as the tires wear out I'm switching to a 275/40-17.
