Default Nitto 555R questions...

I'm just about decided on some Nitto 555Rs for my car that is mostly driven on the street and occasionally taken to the track.

My first question is, what is the speed rating on these tires really? Nitto's site says V, but then the other sites where I'm thinking about getting them from have been saying R, which is only 106mph, so I don't want that...

Second, I've heard that the Nitto's run narrower than other tires. Is it going to look weird having the stock F1's up front and the 555Rs in the back? Is it at all possible to go to the next step (315's) on the stock WS6 rims?

Thanks guys. I'm hoping to order these tonight if I can get my questions answered

all i have to say to that is how often do you go over 106 for a consistent amount of time for that to be an issue.

i regularly go with the lowest "z" rated tire, to make a little bit back in tread life.

trust me even though they say 106 their fine for track day or the occasional jump over that 106...their rubber, they dont know

Never for a consistent amount of time, but I still wouldn't like having that on my mind... lol

I would go with a Z tire, but as of right now I have a Z tire and can't use my first gear. All i get is smoke. lol

Yeah, I think I'm going to go with Nitto's site too, which says V. I'll trust them over these websites making a mistake. I didn't think the R in the name meant that either btw, it actually says "Speed Rating: R" on some sites that sell them. Oh well, I ordered them now so I'll be getting them by the end of the week hopefully

Nitto's are notorious for the rubber getting small cracks in them. Something like you'd see when an old tire gets dry rot cracking.

Wow, I have never seen such an great response.

BFG's are horrible. Get no mileage and almost no traction.
Mickey Thompsons are GREAT for traction but don't get the best mileage.

Look at his posts. He wants something that is good on the street but will have good track duties too.

Please, before posting a retarded comment, stop, think, and then hit the "back" button.

They hook well if it's warm outside. But they are like ice skates otherwise. And why would you EVER go more than the speed limit?!

I see this comment a lot and it looks like his MT's arent that great cutting a 1.8...but whatever

can anyone tell me if the 315 nitto will fit a 9.5" rim? i know it's narrower so it should.
