315's on 9.5 inch rimwhat could go wrong? (pics)
Im buying a set of 9.5 inch rims that came of of another trans am. The guy said he has been running 315's in the back for the close to 3 years he has had them without any problems. This is with some drag racing too. I brought one of them home today so I could see how it looks and the tires that are on there are pretty worn but they are worn evenly. Some members of the board say that this isnt safe but what could happend? This guy hasnt had a problem in 3 years? Just courrious because im about to buy them.
TIA , justin
Hers a link to the pics of the tire on the rim and the tread wear. Its the newer pics page on page 2.

I've known a few people who have pulled it off but would not recommend it. The back end always felt unstable in their cars.

I ran 315's on 9.5" wheels on the back of a C4 Corvette for nearly 3 years without a problem. This included VERY hard street driving and drag racing.

Any more input about the 315's on the rim. Im gonna have to buy new tires in a couple of weeks and would like to stay with the 315's unless there is a reason I shouldnt. Does any one have any horror stories?

P.S. The tires are Pirelli's

I can't say I've actually seen any problems arise from this and happen to know some guys doing this. Personally, I will not. Why? Because the rims just are not made to handle a tire that wide. Just because they are doesn't mean it's foolproof. The possibilty of rolling a bead in a corner or throwing the bead at speed on the track just doesn't blow my skirt at all.

You wear a skirt?
J/K I agree (not about the skirt blowing) but that I would never put a 315 tire on that narrow of a rim.
