Default Refinishing stock Ws6 rims

I couldn't find it in search...

The clear is pitting on my wheels, and I don't want to spend the money on a different set of rims.

What do I have to do to strip them?

What do I do to re-clear them? Is it powder coat or just a traditional clear?

Anyone ever do this? Thanks!

<----- Would also like to know. I have a couple of small curb-rash spots I'd like to have polished out and re-cleared.

Any info on the clear would be helpful much!

Thanks!

Reading through it now... can you clear coat them with clear coat paint or does it need to be powder coated?

I'd think the powdercoat would be a better route. But I guess if you had enough hardener in the automotive clear it would be alright.

i would vote for powdercoat myself for two reasons,

1. powdercoat is alot harder than automotive clear, and can withstand alot more abuse
2. automotive clear will only stick to a "roughed up" surface, and on a polished wheel, i dont know how that may work.

I refinished my wheels a few years back, stripped them with liquid paint stripper, washed thoroughly, repolished and had powdercoated clear

I'm in the same situation. For the price of rechroming the wheels, I could just buy a new set. I've thought of having them powdercoated to a silver color, so they looked like the older wheels, but I like the shiny finish. I haven't done anything yet, though.

Oh ok so powder coat is the way to go, thanks for the responses guys. How much did that run you if you don't mind me asking.
