Default Calling Kee Audio

I would like to know if you have a speaker package for 1998 T/A convertible.
2 door tweeters-2 door speakers and 2 rear panel speakers.Do you need vin # or a code for stereo?
I think it is a monsoon but it is not marked on front of stereo.

Thanks

I believe Kee Audio is a one man operating, I would probably give him some time to respond, at least until sometime next week.

Sorry for the delayed responses guys!! I haven't been doing so well lately as far as my health is concerned and just went to the doctor again today to get some stitches removed from my back from the surgery I went through a few weeks ago. My pain meds have also been an issue.
Anyway, I will be catching up this weekend on unanswered messages. I Also have several orders that have gone out so if anyone has been expecting a delivery it will arrive next week for you. The holidays being in the middle of the week have delayed some of my shipments but rest assured they are being delivered!
I do have several options for convertible cars that work very well including the rear seat area that has limited mounting depth. If your sticking with the Monsoon system you can do a standard component set in the doors and use the CDT CL-6E I have on special in the rear area. They work very well for limited depth with about 2 1/8" of depth on that speaker. My 98 T/A did not have the Monsoon designation on the radio but was a Monsoon system. I forget the designation code for that option in the door but it was alot of the earlier Monsoon systems did not say Monsoon on the HU but still have the same equipment.
I will get with you on more later via PM. Thanks for your patience guys!!!

Well I got my Build sheet out yesterday and found RPO codes and it appears that I DO NOT have a monsoon system in the car. The head unit looks just like a monsoon unit equalizer and all. But I got in the trunk and no amp to be found. I assume the amp should be around the spare tire from what I have read here.
I have noticed that the volume **** on the head unit does not always work correctly. It seems you have to pull on it to get it to work.
So now my dilemma is do I want to try to keep it stock or not.

I really don’t need a huge system in the car as I don’t listen to it loud cause I would rather hear the car itself.

Any suggestions?

do what u think will be good for ur needs.

what i did when i first thought of dooing some setups i wanted somthing that sounds better than factory. i didnt want a heavy stealth box with 2 woofers that can handle plenty of bass at the back and i wanted to keep the t-top place empty.
i decided to put 2 decent amps at the back and put a pair of compo speakers in the door and a pair of 6.5 subs in the sail and for the hatch i havent decided yet i might put a pair of 4 inch round speakers or i might keep it plane.
btw more info is found here https://ls1tech.com/forums/stereo-el...pgrades-d.html and pics of my HU is in post 59 here https://ls1tech.com/forums/stereo-el...-stereo-s.html

Does anyone know if the non-Monsoon and the Monsoon head units have the same part number? Like I said mine ( 1998 vert WS6) looks from the front exactly like the Monsoon without the word Monsoon on it.Why I ask is I can find the Monsoon units for sale-but cannot find the unit without Monsoon label on face.

Thanks for the info Engine_HP every little bit helps.

Wrote new GM parts and they said the part number of my radio was 9390772So I went to their parts search page and typed in a non-monsoon radio part number on e bay 9380152 and the response I got was (Part number 9380152 was superseded by part number 9390772).So I am assuming this one will work?

Guys just give Ian a chance. He is a great guy and will do you right. I am in the midst of doing my system for my car and ALL of my parts came from Ian. My setup consists of the JVC KW-AVX810 LCD, CDT CL-62CF components for the doors, CDT CL-6 mid woofers for the sail panels, nothing in the hatch area, Phoenix Gold Octane-R 9.0.5 5 channel amp, and of course enough dynamat xtreame to practically do every inch of the car. I havent decided what to do as far as subs as of yet, but im sure i will figure it out.

I ended up making my own bezel for the screen. I used the factore trim bezel and trimed it down so everything fits nicely. Came out pretty good and keeps the factory look.

Do you have any pictures? I am curious as to what modifications to the factory trim did you make to get it to fit. Thanks.

There is absolutely nothing special about the Monsoon head unit. It's just a plain old Delco radio with a Monsoon label slapped on the front (many of them don't even have the label). So yes... the Monsoon and non-Monsoon head units are completely interchangeable.

Whitebird00,

Thanks for the input.
I just don't understand why the factory has all the different part numbers for the same radio.
Monsoon #9390782
Non monsoon in my car 1998 # 9390772
non monsoon for year 2000 # 9380152

Like you said they all look exactly the same from the front except the labels.

I just don't get it

There are internal differences between model years that would account for different part numbers although I would expect that all the older numbers would supercede to the more recent ones. For example, in 2000 the single CD head unit gained the ability to control the optional external CD changer. Prior to that, only cassette head units could have a CD changer attached. In 2001 they changed again - this time allowing the HU to control more than one device attached to the CD changer port (e.g. a changer and an auxiliary input adapter).

So would they all be the same wattage per channel without the monsson amp hooked to it.
Do you have a clue what that would be?
