Replaceing headunit
-Can I replace my head unit and not the factory speakers?
-If so do I need to rewire the speakers to the head unit?
-Can I buy an adapter to make the monsoon system work with an aftermatket HU?
-What do i need to do?

Thanks for any and all input guys!
If you want to replace the stock headunit, you need four things:
Wire Harness:
Standard 21-pin 1988+ GM harness. The Scosche number is GM-02B. The Metra number is 70-1858.
Mounting adapter to mount 1 DIN in 1.5 DIN opening:
Metra 99-3009 (flush mount)
humount (I'm not posting the website, but you can google the name)
Mini-GM to Motorola antenna adapter
(I think that is what its called)
Sometimes the stuff above is thrown in free when you buy a headunit from a site like Crutchfield or some other install site.
Steering Wheel Controls Adapter:
PAC SWI-X is the universal IR steering wheel control adapter. It'll work with most aftermarket headunits that have an IR sensor. PAC also makes brand specific wired units as well (ex: SWI-PS is for Pioneer headunits with the remote port on the back). The wired brand-specific unit works by plugging into the aftermarket headunit's wired remote port (therefore, make sure the headunit has a wired remote port before getting one of these wired adapters).
