You can find the Pioneer Avic F90BT cheaper than that on amazon. Car Toys had it at for around $550 last week.

I would recommend the Pioneer or Kenwood. For one thing, they are the only two that can change illumination color to match the red dash lighting. The Kenwood DNX5140 has the 6" screen and the DNX7140 has the 7" screen. I did a comparison a while ago between the Kenwood and the older Pioneer AVIC-D3 in this thread. Those models aren't identical to what is available now but most of the features are similar enough that you might find the thread useful.

I'd recommend the Pioneer or Kenwood as well. The Kenwood uses Garmin GPS which is great. If GPS is a big selling point, pick the Kenwood.

Whitebird00, can you hide the on-screen buttons on your Kenwood to show just the background like on the Pioneer AVIC-D3? I almost always have the buttons hidden to show my background (which is KITT's voice box and buttons).

the only thing i like about the jvc is the front loaded sd reader, so i could load music and videos on it to watch.

Funny you should ask... I just discovered how to do that this week. When listening to a music source, press and hold the on-screen "button" at the top left of the display (where it shows the current music source in use) for about 3-4 seconds. This will hide the data and leave only your custom background displayed. Touching anywhere on that background screen will restore the original music screen. This is nowhere in the documentation but someone on sounddomain posted it.

I installed a panel mount USB port inside my console box and ran the USB cable to the back of the head unit. That way I can plug in different flash drives as necessary but they're out of the way and won't get unplugged accidentally.

An SD card reader is a nice feature but USB flash drive support does basically the same thing.

usb > card reader. this is because you can get some hard drives for it and have MUCH more memory.

shame to see you moving from the hobby. if the carputer was fast and worked great than imo just have an audio shop make a mold for your screen, and have them attach it in a non permanent way. it would be much cheaper.

You want Kenwood. The Pioneer are ok units but Kenwood are awesome. The NAV is the best and the sound quality is so much better.

send a message to 6litereater and you can have a package put together for you with the bezel and head unit
