the speakers by the backseats on both sides have no sound coming out of them. could it be because the amp is blown or the speakers? i have a pioneer headunit so it could be running the other speakers which work. any pointers?

Your 94 does not have a Monsoon system. The "premium" audio system in 94 was a 10-speaker system with an external amp that only powered the sail panel subs while all other speakers were powered directly by the head unit.
It is possible that the amp is dead but I would check fuses first. There is a separate fuse labeled "RADIO ACCY" or "POWER ACCY" that provides power to the amp. You could also check that there is power and ground at the amp's connector. The amp is mounted in the right sail panel below the speaker next to the rear seat cushion.

thanks for clearing that up i thought the monsoon was the regular and the bose was the premium. so i just check the fuses and hook a voltmeter up to wires going into for power and coming out as a ground.

my wifes 99 ta head unit powers the four tweeters the amp powers the door and rear mids and two pillars with four channels a dual voice coil one 2ohm one 4ohm . you might need to check that your getting your new head to the monsoon amp (which sucks, factory head pretty good) there are four channels into the monsoon amp uses vox to turn on (voltage sense) maybe parallel the tweeters and monsoon amp inputs on your new head. I kept the head and replaced the amp with two amps and the blown speakers with aftermarket (not the tweets driven by the factory head)
I only have a 99 helms manual but the non monsoon shows six channels of the head unit lf mid lf tweet rf mid rf tweet rr sub lr sub maybe parallel mid tweet s put subs on rear

The base audio system had four channels (not six) for the doors and sail panels. There were no hatch speakers in base audio systems.
