Default sub box design help

I plan on making a sub box similar to the subthump box (box that goes in place of the flappy thing in the rear) and I will be running a 10 kenwood sub and a 300W rockford fosgate P-300-1 amp which is small about 10" X 7.5" side by side so all should fit on the front panel.

My questions are;

How does the sub thump box supported?
Does it go all the way to the bottom or is it held in place with the little bolt things on the side and rests on the lip near the latch?

I want to make a box that does not go all the way down so I still have some storage space.

Any pictures will be really helpful.

Im almost positive they go to the bottom. It sounds to me like a stealth enclosure would be a better option for you.

no they dont go all the way to the bottom unless you have a ported box for 15's which needs as much air space as possible, i have a subthump box for two sealed 12's and it was supported by the lip on each side ( front and back) of the box. but under heavy acceleration the front of the box would slide down while the back of the box would slightly slide up due to the massive weight of the sub that i have. so i had to build a custom amp rack and use 3 small v shaped metal pieces that connected the amp rack to the sub box keeping the box from moving, even when launching on the drag track! been working great. i have pics in my profile feel free to look. hope that helps.

Thanks for the info. Now it is time to find a place to buy MDF and a jig saw.

Does Lowes or home depot sell MDF?

I'd do some searching around in some other sub enclosure threads.. There are plenty of good ideas out there for boxes.

My box holds two 10's and an amp between them. It doesn't go in the well at all, but sits on the shelf and bolts down to the factory cargo anchors. It is also angled toward the front. I figured this way, the subs would be closer to the cabin (sound better), and I would be able to have storage and keep my factory t-top storage.

That sounds like a good idea but I do not want everyone to see my system. Most of the time, I use that shelf area more than the t top well anyway.

The plan for my sub box is to be able to flip it forward so that I could still have storage space underneath it.

flip it forward like on a hinge? that would be diffrent...but honestly if you want to keep your top shelf and the t-top storage space the stealth sealed boxes are really nice, they just tuck in the wheel wells and are hard to see unless you have the hatch open. just remember to match the box to the subs specs.

If you are just going to run a single 10, why not do the stealth box. You can mount the amp on a rear wall amp rack or put it on the opposite side fender well hidden. The subthump box is about 2.0 cu. ft. which is way more than optimum for a single sealed 10.

I was looking at my car today, and I think I am going to scrap the idea since I will need a shallow mount sub to do it.

If I mount the RF punch amp where the spare tire is, will it overheat?

Anyone have a stealth box for sale?
