Road Rage defensive light thingy... (high beams in reverse)
How can i install high beam headlights into my reverse light spots, and add a toggle switch to also 'On-demand' turn them on....
~see below for reason, if care~
So basically... Ive been doing alot of highway driving recently.. And it NEVER fails to be high beamed/tailed by some a22hole around the West Virginia/ Kentucky stretch of I-64... my most recent trip from Virginia to Missouri, i snagged 2 on way there and 3 on way back, same stretch every time.... On way back, there was a car actually able to keep up with me as i sped off, and to make it worse he was enjoying flashing his high beams on and off...
Am i cutting them off? Nope... Am I driving with my highs on? Nope..
In end.. I'm tired of getting night blindness for no reason.. and after experiencing the inability to run away from it for the first time, i decided to fight fire with fire, however wrong it may be.... PLUS! there is a practical application for it. I live on a dirt road with no lighting in which i have to back out of my garage to the main dirt road... rather hard to see the gravel driveway when no moon out ( stock reverse bulbs rather suck )

well i would like them to still function normally IE car in reverse, turn them on. But have a bypass power switch to enable on demand IE in drive, infront of a drunk redneck who wants to play with his highbeams...
guess the technical questions i have is:
1: How would i go about getting a high beam bulb, or just any bulb that can produce a crap load of lumens that will fit firmly into spot
2: Power requirements for said bulb, will pre-existing wiring carry the required wattage?
3: for bypass, what would wattage requirements for said bulb be, and would running of battery -> resisters - > switch => bulb be a good method? or..?

Sounds like a fun project but FYI flashing your HB's at the car in front of you in most states is legally the way to tell them to move over. Not saying that's why they are doing it, just saying it could be an option.

There are some alternatives in the thread above but messing with the reverse lights is a bad idea and will only make you the target of more road rage.
I'd really like to see more ambition on this site! Why don't people look to shoot tire spikes out of their tailpipes, toss stink bombs out of the t-tops, or have high power laser beams shoot out of the tail light filler Firebird's eyes?

I would just say when they do that. Slow the car way down to a gradual stop. put it in park, get out with a crazy flesh eating 28 days later zombie look on your *** with a Louisville slugger in your hand and run towards them. I would venture to say they would not do it again.
Or just put some mods on your car so you won't have to deal with it.
But My vote would go for option #1....lol

Have some old used AA batteries? A few spare bolts in the cup holder? A penny or two? Drop a couple out the window.
I know what you mean though, can't stand people riding my tail at a light or on the highway at night. I heard some one mention rebased headlight bulbs that could be used in the reverse lights as well...
I'd really just like the extra light so I can see behind me at night.
