Thanks, looking forward to seeing them as I've been trying to decide if I wanted to build a similar hatch box for my 02 Z28

That box almost looks just like my old one except mine's ported, but your carpet on the box looks like it matches almost perfectly. Nice job.

Looks great! 2 questions. What did you to to hold down the plaque the amp is on? The second is just making sure, you kinda stated it but just wanted to make sure. The ttops still fit in their holders with no problem right? Might start working on something like this myself, never thought about doing them like this before
Again, look great dude!!

Um...I would advise to NOT do it like that...Subs need to be in a sealed or ported box. Running them like that can be VERY bad for the subs voice coils. You'll end up frying the subs, and possibly taking the amp with it. The only subs that are safe to be run in a open air space is free airspace subs, and there not common, don't hit the lows well, and sound like garbage in general.

x2. Free airing the subs is a quick way to kill em. I would suggest building a box and using what you have now as the top of it.

Whoo never knew that, thanks for the heads up! I believe I fried my last subs already having them on an "un"breakable Fuse. Trying to find a custom set up so I don't lose my Ttop set up, or having them set right in the back window

Didn't realize they weren't sealed to you posted that pic. Like has been said, it's not good to free air subs. You should look into sealing up that back somehow.

I had a problem by placing my t tops inside at first because the degree of the wooden hatch did'nt give that much space, so I'm working on my new costume wooden holders which are smaller and very helpful , I made all measurments and everything is alright!

for those who asked about the amp.'s , I had everything perfect! I placed an wooden block covered with carpet for the amp. to sit on because i dont think drilling my car for an amp. is an good idea, I've placed an costume "high watt" fuse and wires connected to the front batteries going all the way down under the carpet to the trunk.

You really need to modify that to be a sealed box, It's going to sound better that way and will protect your subs as has been stated above by numerous other posters

X3
I made this same mistake in my old iroc i built a plate setup the same,,, it sounded ok,,,, but as soon as i posted it on a message board I got the same response you are here,,, I had subs ment for a sealed enclosures running free air like that. Anyhow I broke down and built a custom fiberglass box and once it was done,,, the difference was amazing,,, it went from ok to rattle the mirror off the front window with two 12"s. Never again will i waste my time,,, build a nice box for under that setup and use your plate for the top of the box. Trust me seal those bad boys up in that big of a box and youll be bounceing around.
