Correct Sequence for Electrical Grounds

Greetings,
I've moved my battery to the rear of the car with a 1' chassis ground in the rear trunk. up front i have the engine block grounded to the chassis. Everything is A okay except my hptuners is dissconnecting at WOT causing me to think that its a ground issue. Other than that the car starts and runs fine. Am i missing something here?

Run the battery ground to the block and not the trunk. Should solve your problem

As long as you have scraped the paint away where the cable ends touch the sheetmetal, your setup should be fine. I've done the same thing on other cars and never had an issue.

Take 38DD's advice, it's always worked. Electricity takes the path of least resistance, a welding cable to the engine (I like connecting it to a starter mounting bolt) works a LOT better than a sheetmetal trunk floor.

i will try that, but ive read ur ground shouldnt be over 3ft long. with the battery being in the trunk that would make it over 7ft

That's not true if you're using the appropriate sized cable, back in the '60s-'70s, when we put the batteries in the trunks of our Super Stock Plymouths we ran the negative cables (welding cable) all the way to the starter mounting bolts, really helped the high compression Hemi's to start easier. If you're using rubber or poly engine mounts you also have to be sure to attach ground cables from the engine to the frame. We were using front and mid engine plates bolted directly to the sub-frames so that wasn't an issue.
