Default My System Install *finished update*

decided to tackle this project this weekend, it's not 100% done but the foundation is there. here's a list of everything i have:

Alpine CDA-9886 Head Unit
x2 Alpine Type R Components (Mid, High & Crossover)
Alpine PDX 1.600 Amp
Alpine PDX 4.100 Amp
JL Audio 10w6

Tsunami Amp Install Kit (4awg)
Tsunami 16awg Wire (Component)
Tsunami 12awg Wire (Sub)
Tsunami Distribution Block (4awg in-2 8awg out)
Tsunami 17' RCA Cable
x2 Tsunami 20' RCA Cable

SubThump Amp Rack
SubThump Sub Box
6LE Tweeter Pods

worked on it a few hours friday night and finished up all day saturday. seemed to take forever to run the wires, tape them up and run them cleanly but it was definitely worth the effort. i installed the components in the sail panel but left the one's in the door's out due to bad crossovers. ordered new ones so they should be here this week. also, to begin with i had x3 17' rca cables but the ones running the components wouldn't reach the amp cleanly so i had to order 20' cables which should also be here this week. once i receive all of that, the components will be complete. as far as the sub goes, i have a jl 10w6 that i bought brand new and had installed for a while then i ended up screwing up the voice coil. it was still under warranty but since i didn't buy from an authorized dealer nothing could be done. my buddy knew a jl dealer so he got him to send it back to get repaired so i don't know how long i'll be waiting for it. so when i get that and the sub box everything will be completely finished.

Looks like good progress so far on a Clean Install.

Where will you mount the front speaker Tweeters and why JL Sub when everything else is Alpine?

Good clean install. I am impressed I hope mine looks as good as this when I am done. What subthump box did you go with? and is that a tweeter with the bass speakers?

went with the stealth enclosure that fits the driver side. and that tweeter goes with that speaker, as soon as everything is hooked up i'll be taking some bass out of those to get more sound and let the sub handle all of the bass.

small little update.

got the 6le tweeter pods + tweeter mounted up this weekend. they look good and fit but the pods are extra flimsy and almost paper thin and there's a huge gap between them and the door panel.

nope, oem piece has to come off due to the screw hole being in a different location.

^ Wow.. And I waited a month for those?? They're still sitting in my room and haven't installed em yet.. Pointed down?? I knew they felt cheap, but oooooof... Not very impressed..

And technically, the tweeter is supposed to be behind the component speaker. Unless the stereo is setup to delay the tweeter.

Yeah...I think it might be time to figure something else out for the tweeters.

^ If they're that bad, I may test fit mine and if they still look that bad, I'll just sell em.

And mine are in the A-pillar. It's ok.. just separates the sound a bit too much. Makes it hard to hear the drivers.

yea, i like the idea of them but it's just not what i expected. i'm considering mounting the tweeters similar to the way they're mounted in the sails.

^ Too bad we didn't have some kind of WS6 door speaker conversion. Never been crazy about how flat they are on the Camaros. No tweet location either.

Maybe mount them on the top of the grille on the next panel up. Toward the front of the car though to push em back a bit.

Do you have any pictures of the install process of the Amp Rack? I just ordered one, buy have been unsuccessful in finding a decent guide on the install. I even found the link from SubThump, and it was pretty poor.

What did you find the best way was to drill holes in the rack and through the carpet, without unwinding the thread from the carpet?

Thanks.

Yeah, I've searched high and low on this board, without much anything. I don't get why subthump is so secretive with your guide. I'll be sure to take a crap load of pictures and post them all once I install mine.
