What's your intended use? I have a $3 one from harbor freight that's good enough for troubleshooting at home lol

I go thru one of these once every 2-3 years when the battery dies. cheaper to buy a new one than replace the battery.

I also burn them up working on some things or careless mistakes. $3 hurts a lot less than $150

The Digital Greenlee from Home Depot or Lowes work great. Rubber coated so they can take the fall from the bench or fender. Around $20 last time I bought one. Battery last for couple of years if you remember to turn it off.

I have a cheapo multimeter from Fry's with auto ranging and it's been working for 4-5 years already. But if you're willing to spend $150, then just get a Fluke in that price range.

i will second the harbor freight unit. most of what i use a dmm for is checking voltage and resistance and for both it has been quite accurate compared to units over $100. Voltage seems to be within .05 and resistance is slightly less accurate because it's to the nearest 10 at over 100. I got mine for free when i used a coupon for buying a $10 digital caliper which has also been more than I expected it to be.

Summed up, the $5 harbor freight little red unit is all you will need for 99% of anything on a vehicle.

I have a Power Probe 2, and a Fluke, covers anything I need to do.

That being said, the Lowes/HD units in the electrical section are nice and will do all most any hobbiest will ever need.

If it works it's a Fluke! That's what my mechanic friend says. I say $35 Craftsman with temp probe is awesome!

I think the best deal*features I've found (and I have
a dozen or more DMMs) was at Radio Shack; they
had one that has frequency and thermocouple (temp)
functions, and came with the thermocouple too. The
freq is nice for stuff like your MAF (if you wanted a
sanity reading with no scan tool, etc.). I caught it on
sale for $39.99, but I don't think it's more than 80
bucks on a bad day.
