Default Amp question for the stereo people please.

Happy New Year people, I could use a little help & hit the search button. My vert is a non monsoon factory h/u that was swapped at the dealer by the p/o, it says monsoon on the h/u but there is no amp. Also it has the Jason Novak mod (awesome) w/ Pioneer front coaxial speakers so they will stay. I want to add a 50 x 4 aftermarket amp to power the front speakers & a pair of 6x9s in boxes atached to a quick release strap bolted to the car inbwetwen the top & botom cushions. This way I can put the 6x9s in the trunk when kids need to occupy the seats lol. I think I wil just let the rear factory speakers ride for now. I won't win any competitions but it should make a big diference.
My questions are:
Where is the best place to mount the amp & is there a certin brand & or size that works best? Ty.

I did quite a bit of research on this, for my amp install a month ago. I ended up building my own amp rack:

https://ls1tech.com/forums/stereo-el...lots-pics.html

I built it based on the instructions in this thread:
https://ls1tech.com/forums/stereo-el...lkthrough.html

Here are a couple threads about installing an amp in the spare tire area, but it needs to be a smaller size amp:
https://ls1tech.com/forums/stereo-el...ics-ideas.html
http://www.banddirector.cz28.com/photo3.html

Or just mounting one on on the hump behind the back seats:
https://ls1tech.com/forums/stereo-el...-write-up.html

Hope this helps!

As far as the amp goes, there are so many possibilities. First of all, make sure to get one that's CEA-2006 compliant, or you may end up with one that's not much more powerful than your head unit (especially with cheaper models). I looked at Hifonics, Pioneer, Alpine, Kenwood, Rockford Fosgate, & more. A lot depends on how much you're looking to spend too, of course. Give us an idea & we can offer our opinions.

I ended up going with a Hifonics amp. I heard good things about them on here, it was in my price range, I liked the features & look, and it is CEA-2006 compliant.

With your mod any size now is not a problem. I have no idea what I amps go for now but throwing price out there figure around 200 bucks? does it pay to buy one used on eBay I'm sure people upgrade and get bigger amps all the time? I will stick with some type of brand name. I missed why you need the clamps that go in the back, you can't screw through the amp and the wood?

I'm not sure what you mean by clamps? I don't have any clamps on mine, just the L-shaped brackets to connect the 2 pieces of the rack. My amp is screwed directly to the wood.

If you're looking for a 50x4 amp, you probably wouldn't even need to spend $200. If your budget is that high, I wouldn't bother getting a used one. Kee Audio is a sponsor here, and he could probably help you picking out an amp. He also makes the amp racks for $76 which includes shipping, if you don't want to bother making your own. He has a 4x50 Audiopipe amp for $99, and a few different models of Clarion & JBL amps between $100-200. I've had good experiences with Sonic Electronix & their prices are very good, but I know some folks here shy away from them because they're not authorized dealers for a few major brands (Pioneer being one of them).

Pioneer GM-D6804... more power than you need, small size, efficient full range class D, low heat. Street priced around $160. Yes, you can spend more for something marginally better, but at a value pricepoint, this is a nice, high-fidelity, reliable amp. I use it and I recommend it to others in your price range. You won't be disappointed.

Your right no clamps. It was in the link (amp rack walkthru) in your post but not you. I se now it loks like they hold the wires in place. That's what happenes when your reading from your phone after you had a few lol. Your way works for me.

Yeah, the clamps are good if you need to keep wires in place. I agree with Capricio above, the Pioneer amps have good reviews. I may go with a Pioneer amp when I get a subwoofer this spring.

The amp will be perfect. Since I have a vert can I mount it on top of the hump between the well for the top and the boot bag?

There are a lot of options for a small amp like your asking especially at a $200 price point. Id decide first ifyou want a new or used amp. Ive seen small alpine 50x4 rms amps ive seen go for as little as $50.

Do any amps in this category come with a built in ground loop isolator?

OMG please do not use one those to hook your amp up, there are plenty of other ways to get a good quality signal to the amp from your stock head unit. Distortion is what will kill your speakers

Audio control makes great products like a lc-8, jl audio has a clean sweep, all the way up to jbl ms-8. That's just a few there are many others. All will do what you need. You need to decide a price point you want to stay within.

Definitely not looking for snap crackle & pop lol, The JL pieces are for an oe h/u? I will gladly go for an amp that has either something built in or a quality convertor piece. I didn't even know they existed. I just want something to power the 6x9s and the 2 front door spesakers that sounds clear.
