Delco Radio vs Monsoon

Delco Radio vs Monsoon
I searched but nothing really came up to answer my question. I have the monsoon factory head unit in my 00 SS. I have upgraded to cdt speakers and really like the look of keeping the radio factory. I want to install a radio head with an aux import. My cd player doesnt work so i cant perform the mod to this radio, so I will need to purchase a new one. Can I use a Delco radio with my the monsoon system or do I need another monsoon system?
Thanks for the help

"The head unit is nothing special - it's just an ordinary 1.5 DIN Delco radio with a Monsoon label on it."
I think i found my answer. So in theory buying a delco headunit and doing the aux mod should work fine with monsoon amp and cdt 2 ohm speakers??

Will it still work with the steering wheel controls? My 99 TA Monsoon has stopped playing CD's. I found a refurb on ebay for $230 with the input installed. It is out of a 2001 so I assume it will just plug and play. Want to keep the ability to use steering wheel controls.

So to the op, if you can i'd recommend just getting a replacement off ebay.

will sound a lot better with a new aftermarket deck, but I understand the orig look in the dash. the AM will work fine with the monsoon amp and then you can buy the converter to allow the steering wheel controls to work the AM radio

I am certainly leaning that way. Yours is a 99? Is it pretty easy to replace? Funny thing is that if I had a aux jack I would not need the CD. I want to keep original look. I don't need loud just loud enough for me. Mostly Classical and R&B for me.
