Default Replace stock 4ohm Dvc with 2ohm Dvc sub.

I have no experience with stereo systems and I have 2001 TA WS6 with monsoon system and I cannot find any replacment 4ohm dvc subs in Canada. But I did find 2ohm dvc subs could I wire 1 of the set of wires in series to the 2ohm dvc sub? Would sub put out same sound as the 4ohm version? Hurt amp? Please help.
Thanks

Yes, technically you could wire the 2-ohm voice coils in series to create 4-ohm impedance and then run that off just one of the two channels provided by the amp, leaving the other channel disconnected. You will give up half your power which is not desirable for subs but it will work without damaging anything.

As sjsingle1 suggested, Kee Audio has exactly what you need but you'll have to contact him to see if he can ship to Canada. Also, Amazon Canada has a pair of Skar EVL-65 DVC 4-ohm subs for $225 CDN. It's a relatively unknown brand but it's been getting good reviews.

I email Kee but with the usd to can exchange and shipping it gets costly pretty quick, but not out of the question yet. Those Skar subs have a mounting depth of 3.56" will they actually fit ? I thought I measured a depth of 3" when I took bad sub out last year.

You are correct... other members here have discovered that a 1/2" spacer is needed for proper installation.
