What in the world is this light by the OBD plug?
What in the world is this light by the OBD plug? 
Helping out a friend who lives a few hours away. This is not my car and these are pics/videos he sent me. Its a 1997 Trans Am. Only aftermarket stuff I know of is a remote start. Any ideas?
Trace the wires to be sure, my gut says alarm system. Looks like the alarm bypass button which you use to deactivate the alarm if you lose the remote or if it runs out of batteries.
Hopefully I won't have to dig into too much. The car wont start due to VATS (IMO) which I'll be heading there next weekend to take care of that. He happened to find that when he was digging around. I had never seen anything like that before.
If that's part of an old alarm system, It could be causing the No start issue.
I had a vehicle come in that had an old alarm system on it like that and when the module finally died, It wouldnt start. The owner was never given the fobs and was not aware it was there.
Soon as I pulled the wires and restored the ignition circuit it started and ran just fine.
Some alarms can be put into a bypass mode. But if the module dies, You have to restore the ignition circuit.

I had a Viper alarm with remote start installed on my car a couple of years ago. The "installers" had it all messed up, I contacted Viper "CEI" and they sent me to another shop and they made it right.
