Tach not working

I know there’s a lot of old threads on this but I can’t figure it out, my car is a 02 ss bought as a roller bored a gen 4 5.3 out to 5.7 used front cover and ls2 the half moon timing gear and chain and cam harness extension I have tried the the outside cam wires swapped and unswapped and cannot get my tach to work I’ve checked all the fuses they’re all good car starts up and runs fine for not having a very good tune it in just enough to get it to start and idle any help would be appreciated

Hook up a scanner and see if your ECU is seeing RPM. If it is, chase the cluster as was mentioned. If not, then look elsewhere. Cam sensor/wiring maybe?

It goes to 0 whenever I start it would it still be the stepper motor?

I do have rpm signal when we hook up the laptop
