Monsoon amp bypass issue I have a 98 z28 I’m trying to find the amp pin out as I replaced speakers and radio so I’m bypassing the amp but all I see is pin out for 00 and up and I tried to follow them but only got my two door speakers to work and the sail panel speakers my pins are different colors than what I’m seeing people posting anyone have a pin out on a 98 Camaro

First of all, why bypass the Monsoon amp? Assuming the amp isn't damaged and you aren't replacing it with an aftermarket amp, then the only reason to bypass it would be if you bought incompatible speakers instead of replacements. Or perhaps you've read somewhere on the web that Monsoon amps aren't good (not true). You're giving up clean, free amplification. The amp will work with any head unit and most speaker setups although you may have to watch what you put in the the sail panels - the factory speakers there are subwoofers not full range.
Anyway, if you are determined to bypass the amp, the pin-outs for the Monsoon amp connector are in the Monsoon FAQ sticky. There is no difference between any of the model years, but there is a difference between Camaro coupes, Firebird coupes, and either model convertibles. Perhaps the '00 pin-out you found wasn't for Camaro.

Just FYI... Camaro coupes have eight speakers - there is a tweeter mounted in the middle of each door speaker which makes it look like a typical coaxial speaker but is actually a separate component. Firebirds have ten speakers because they have separate tweeters in the hatch area as well as in the doors.
So glad i checked this thread... one of my 2ohm door speakers took a crap... I am going to snag a couple of factory 4 ohm speakers to replace both front speakers. Mine is a 97 SS... w the Delco system... Don't think they had the Monsoon in 97... But, mine does have the select button ( rock,jazz, country, blah blah)... Keeping it factory.. I have actually changed head unit to one that has been modified for Blue tooth... Still retains OEM head unit...
That's a situation which hadn't occurred to me. That seems completely reasonable... although if you really wanted to, you can get a used Monsoon amp on ebay fairly cheaply.

Yessir the 97's had monsoon in them as an option. Look behind the spare tire if it's got black aluminum finned amp above the wheel well it's monsoon. You can tell by checking RPO codes as well but those numbers long since escaped me at this time sorry on that one.

The easiest way to identify a Monsoon system is by looking at the hatch area side panels... if there are speakers there then it's a Monsoon vehicle. The base audio system came with only four speakers - doors and sail panels - so the hatch area didn't have any speakers (or even speaker openings).
