Dead cd changer

Dead cd changer My 12 disk Delco changer has bit the dust. Is it better to replace it with the same unit? How hard is it to hook up another brand in it's place??

The only other choice (besides the 6- or 12-disc factory changer) is the NeoChanger which comes with adapters to work with most factory radios - including GM. They make both a regular CD changer and an MP3-capable CD changer.
Nobody else makes a changer that will connect to the factory radio. Kenwood and Alpine used to make adapters to connect their changers but they're pretty hard to find these days.

I thought mine bit the dust to but with a little invesigation and pulling the hole thing a part I found out that the black box that screws to the back of the changer had lost connection.

I will check that. It has power. I load the cd's and when I try to play it, I get cd what ever # i am trying to play track0 and after about 15 seconds it reads error. Like it can't read the cd and they are all new.

This may seem obvious but did you remember to put the CDs into the cartridge with the label side down? This is opposite to the way every other changer is designed.

Damn do I feel stupid. I don't have a manual for it. I just went out and turned them lable side down. It works great.
