Question Lighting problems up the wazooo

'99 trans am, 6 speed.

Ok. So my right turn signal died a couple weeks ago. It was just a faulty bulb which i replaced and everything worked fine... For about a week. Then my left turn signal went out. I figured it was the bulb but didn't get time to replace it right away. Then my right turn signal went out again! I finally got a chance to check it out and it isn't either of the bulbs. I'm getting all kinds of other crazy lighting issues as well. Here is a full rundown of what's going on:

-When i turn on either turn signal the dash indicator stays solid green. The front turn signals do not light at all and the rear turn signals light solid red. Side markers do not light either (not sure if they are supposed to).
-When i turn on the hazard lights the dash indicators blink (right and left). The front turn signals do not light at all and the rear turn signals flash.
-When i turn the headlight switch to parking lights, the parking lights come on as normal. The fog lights work normally as well except for the right side which works intermittently. I have not been able to verify whether the bulb is bad or not.
-When i turn the headlight switch to full headlights on, the left turn indicator on the dash lights up and stays light green. (yeah, wtf is up with that!). *NOTE* it actually just stopped doing that the last time i went outside to check the light functions, but i'm willing to bet it will start again next time i drive somewhere.
-My reverse lights do not light when i lock or unlock the car. I'm told they don't light when i put the car in reverse but i haven't verified this myself. I can see through the lenses that the bulbs are good.

I'm going to run to autozone to pick up an el12 flasher relay to see if that doesn't rectify some of the problems. Honestly, i'm not expecting it to help anything, but for 8 bucks, it's worth a shot. I'm open to any and all suggestions on solving this problem.

On a side note... I also recently had problems with the coolant level sensor popping 'popping' off the radiator while i'm driving (which leaks coolant all over the engine bay). It happened once a year or so ago, then 4 times in the last month and the pontiac dealership couldn't find the problem, so i told them to just replace the freakin sensor. It's only been a week but it hasn't happened yet again... *knock on wood*. Anyone ever encountered or heard of this problem as well?

Appreciate any help i can get.

definatly check for corrosion like My-bird99 said....

also was the car in any accidents prior ? maybe the wiring is faulty. defiantly check into the past of the car, or for signs of an accident. even if u are the original owner. sometimes the car will fall of the truck on its way to the dealership while loading and unloading. my fathers friend specialized fixing those cars for dealerships, it happens quite often and u will never know.

i have seen a ton of car that are wired wrong after accidents, where the reverse lights don't come on , or when u put the car in reverse the interior lights come on.

when headlights come on none of the rear lights work.....etc....

goodluck

Sounds like wiring or a body control box. I'll dig up my Haynes and look throught the schrematics. Too many lights going stupid at once for it to be a ground. I'm leaning towards a body control box right now.

Now where the Hell is that book.

Checked all fuses??? I'm going to post all progress here.

By the way. THANK YOU FOR A GOOD BREAK DOWN. It really helps out. I'm going to rule out the body control Module right now and I'm look suspeciously at the Turn/Hazard Switch Assembly. (it's in the steering column).

Your turns not blinking says Flasher. I don't see anthing else from there to the light.

It's not the flasher. All of the symptoms you describe up to the signal indicator on with the headlights would be caused by burned out front bulbs or corroded sockets. The indicator light problem points to the DRL module which controls the daytime running lights but also has both side turn signal relays. Get a test light and check for power at the light blue (left) and dark blue (right) wires on the DRL module when the turn signal switch is on. The iwres with the white stripes are the input from the flasher and the ones without the stripes are the output to each side front lamps. If you have input but not output then the module is faulty.

BTW, your backup lights aren't supposed to flash with the alarm - your taillights should flash.
