i dont know much about any other options than what i run, but for what its worth i got a alpine 7998 that works with sirius and keeps the steering wheel controls functional with the addition of a pac-swix.
the pac is basically a remote control that you hardwire into your steering wheel controls and program with the remote your headunit comes with. if you do a search for a pac-swix you will find alot of posts on them. they are VERY easy to install, but you do need a headunit that comes with a remote control.

I have the clarion DXZ 745MP and just installed SIRIUS today. All I needed was the SIR-CL1 Receiver. It's a great headunit that plays MP3s, WMAs, records, and has 780 different color options
Though I have mine set to red since it matches the TA perfectly. Looks like it came with the car

Ahhh I see. Ive only installed them on alpine units. I just plugged it directly into the remote port on the back of the headunit.
