does anyone have some really high-res photos of this in their car, with some nice close-up shots? i'd kinda like to get one of these for my Z28, but my Kenwood head unit has this little trim panel that goes around the outside of the deck, and would not look right if it's not there. i don't want to shell out $40+ if i don't like the way it fits.

If you take the ring around the HU off, then take the face of the bracket off, slide the HU inside it and replace teh face of the bracket. Gives your HU a nice flush look. Look closely at the outside edge of my pics.

that's just the thing, mine actually NEEDS the face trim around the edge of the H/U, or else it will look like ****. my excelon has the faceplate that flips over when the ignition is turned on/off, so it has gears & stuff that will be showing if that face trim piece is not there. see the photos below:
that's why i want to see some photos of people who have it with the trim ring on, so i can have a good look at it before i commit to buying one of these
edit: i'd specifically like to see some high-res photos of one the camaro Z28 mounting plates, as that's what i'd be buying
edit 2: actually, it would be really nice if someone had a photo of their head unit before it was installed, and another one after installation, to kind of give a nice reference of how it mounts

You won't use your trim ring. The HU fits down inside the bracket. Then the humount.com face goes on top of it and covers everything up except for the face. Only way to get the HU out is to remove the humount.com face. It's hard to explain, but should fit. Drop him an e-mail and ask. Very nice guy.

ok, i think i understand how it fits within there now, but i have yet to figure out how the H/U mounts if it does not have the sleeve on it....does it have some screws that mount in from the side/back or something? in other words, what secures the H/U within the panel to keep it from rattling around & such? (never installed a H/U in a GM vehicle before....)

Just ordered one up. Red backlighting, "Trans Am" main illuminated script with "Pontiac" subscript in black textured finish. I've also got a custom single DIN mounting ring from DJSexay (http://www.fbodyaudio.com/cgi-bin/ya...num=1112155457) and I'll be comparing the two to see which I like better, a more factory look from the single DIN trim which completely hides the dash kit (DJSexay) or the more flashy unit that looks aftermarket, but looks damn good at being aftermarket (HUMount.com).
