Default Anyone with a Monsoon System.

Anyone with a Monsoon System, Camaro and Firebird, I need some info verified.

IF you have a Multimeter and your old speakers out from the Doors, I need the Resistance measured on the Speakers.

I keep Finding Conflictin Info from other Sites and I wan this verified for everyone here. I don't have a Monsoon System and Can't do this test myself.

I'l sum it up as to what I've found:

Here is another site that seems well researched and has conflicting info for to what The Stickies had.

http://www.houston-f-body.org/tech/monsoon/index.htm

It Say's the Camaro has 4 ohm Tweeter, and 2 ohm woofers in the Doors.
The Firebird has 4ohm Tweeters and 4ohm Woofers. All sites agree that the Subs in the Sails are 2 ohm.

Now to test is pretty easy. All you have to do is connect a multimeter to test fro resistance of the Coils. Just put it in low ohm's and see what it says.

I'm hoping to clarify what the resistance is.

If anyone has a Camaro and/or firebird in the Killeen, Texas area I will do this for you. I want to make sure that the info we have is correct. I don't want bad info floating around.

I just took my stock speakers out today, I will help if I can. For the speaker I'm getting like around 2 ohms, but on the tweeter I'm getting all sorts of numbers. Where exactly do you measure from?

Ok, I measured both front speakers 3 times and I got 2.0 and 2.1 for the woofer. For the tweeter I got around 7.8 and around 145(which doesn't sound right but I got it 3 times), hope that helps, let me know if you want me to try something else.

That sounds about right. The tweeter is probably due to the X-over still bring attached???

OK. So for a Camaro it's totally safe to say that it's 2ohm Woofer and a 4ohm tweeter. It's verified twice now. Once by Measuring and by factory Sticker.

https://ls1tech.com/forums/wiring-stereo-electronics/332165-check-these-2-ohm-inifinty-kappa-components.html

The only one that I have found GOOD conflicting info is the TA speakers. Phoenix57 did look at the Speakers in the Other thread and had the info. I'm going to see if he has a Multi-meter to test the Resistance on the Woofer.

Does the X-over increase resistance at the speaker or something?

Well kind of. It presents a different STATIC measurement because of the Capacitor.

Speaker are Dynamic loads. A Capacitor is a Dynamicly tunned piece. It creates a Colapse field where it Resonate freq is and that's how it actually x-over the Freq.

ok so the FIREBIRD FRONTS i measured were:

woofer: 2 ohms, it says it on the back too, single coil though
tweeter: 5 ohms, directly off the speaker terminals

the sail panel are definitely 4 ohm DVC

and who gives a D about the rears...

As I told TXHORNS281 in a pm a few days ago....I wouldnt worry about the tweeter ohms as they will all be different. There are lots of things that can contribute to this. They also draw little to no current from the source (amp) so ohms on a tweeter is not that big of a deal.
