Exclamation Alright I NEED a head unit that....

Displays red and plays mp3/wma's.... Thats one of my primary goals in looking for a new headunit.

I did try searching but nothing came up what i am looking for... so i need your guy's help.

I currently have a really awesome panasonic unit CQ-C7301U
that has plays wma/mp3's and its about 1.5 years old with the "Full Dot Matrix Display", but i want to sell it becasue i really want it to match the interior on my T/A, I have really changed everything in the interior to red. ( red map led's, HUmount red lighted trans am, blah and others)

Im looking into something that has a good preamp output, the one i have now is 5volts...

It dosent need to be expinsive, just something that gets the job done... any good alpine units? I know balupunkt has some that light up red in the dislpay, but IMO they suck.

Also i have XM radio on my Delphi Xm2go for another 2 years, is there any way if i get a xm headunit i can just share my suscription on both recievers?? ( i do have the delphi wired up to my current unit, and just go to AUX to play my XM radio)

I have an alpine CDA-9833. It's one of the higher end (at that time, year ago) units. 256 different colors for the buttons, one of course being red. It plays the MP3s/WMA and has the xm radio options. I love it. Has a built in amp that sounds good to me...for a hu amp. I know it had directions saying that due to the amp, it needed to have lower gauge (thicker) wires ran for the power and ground.

To answer your other question - no, you can't share your existing XM2Go subscription with an XM head unit. Each has its own internal serial number and has to be separately activated. You can get a reduced price on the second (or third...) XM receiver subscription by adding it as an additional receiver on your current subscription. Then you only pay $6.99 per month for the additional receiver.

Kenwood has made those 256 and 512 color headunits for years.

Default Red illumination head unit

Check out Eclipse head units ...

Click to go to Eclipse website

Check out the CD8455 and the CD5435

They both have a 5-pattern illumination. Click on "Other" tab on right to see what it is.

I know Blaupunkt used to make head units that went from red to green but I'm not sure if they still do or not and they were descently priced.

There are only 3 other units I can think of, and are practically out of reach. The Denon DCT - Z1 wich retails over 3K, the JVC unit...very old el kameleon, and a old RF head unit. I suggest looking for those and the ones suggested before me on ebay. Pick up a used one for cheap seeming as how you are budgeted anyways.
