back seat speakers
Guess, this is the result of the bridging that, HiTech mentioned. I didn't do the install of the 3-ways(the front door components work great). The local JBL auth. shop did it and I beleive they screwed it up @ less in the rear seat installation depart.(haven't got to the rear hatch subs yet.) Someone else on the board here, suggested using the infinity 62.7i's. Due to their having the daul connection just for this purpose.
Good luck,
Don

The Monsoon System is different for Camaros and F'birds, in that the sail speakers in F'birds are dual voice coil (hence 4 wires instead of 2). The Camaro sail speakers are not. The 4 wires are ran directly to the amp, apparently on separate channels. Folks who have tried tieing the 2 pairs together, have reported poor results. So it is recommended that you should only use 1 pair when hooking up SVC replacements.
In Camaros, you should only have 1 pair of wires to each speaker, so there should not be any confusion.
Don,
Remember, the Monsoon system does not put out alot of power. You want speakers that have a power rating of 40W to 50W RMS. If you drop in 300W speakers you'll barely hear a whisper when the volume is cranked up all the way (and a mighty distorted whisper at that). Sensitivity should be 91dB (1W/1M) or higher. Don't get too hung up about 2 ohm vs. 4ohm. A good 4 ohm speaker beats a mediocre 2 ohm speaker any day. And will be just as loud.
Several folks have reported good results with the KAPPA 62.7's in the doors. I don't know if anyone has tried them in the sail panels. Myself, I'm leaning towards getting a pair of Audiobahn AMD60Q's for the back seat.
Just my $0.02... but I don't think it is worth spending component speaker levels of money for these replacements. By doing the search I think you'll find information to $40 range DVC drivers that are what you need.

Anyhoo, I'm, also, considering swappin out the GTO636 3-ways. In favor of, a pair of the P650c's(90w rms/270 peak, w/ the sensitivity of 90dB) in the rear seat area and just not hook up the tweeters. By either just leavin this connection on the crossover MT or maybe just installin a jumper. How should it be wired, in this type of operation? I'm not really sure on this issue.
Course, I'm guess the P650c's might be alill on the overkill side for the stock sys. But, I mainly like the P650c's over say the GTO606c (90w rms/270 peak w/ the sensitivity of 90dB, similar to the ones I have in the front doors, now). B-cuz of their power capacity, I guess. Since, they are basicly the same except, for the power rating. Unless I shelled out the big $$$ for a pair of the 6.5in JBL GTi series speakers.
Thanks and here's wishin you all a very Merry Xmas.
Later,
Don
