Default Is this head unit anygood?

http://cgi.ebay.com/Dual-55W-x-4-XM-...QQcmdZViewItem

The guy at best buy told me * chuckles at believing these clowns * that the brand *dual* isnt bad at all. For what you get in this, youd have to spend twice as much to get out of a more known brand. It has two rca preputs * imputs, preputs, somthing that allows you to push two amps * and the I cable for hooking up a ipod directly to it, and is xm ready. Its also very neat looking. They want 160 for it at BB, free intall, and about 50 bucks for the plastic dash piece, wireing harness, and a adaptor for my ant b/c I have a gm????? Seem like a good deal? May take the TA down there and have it installed if you guys give me the go ahead.

You know the saying....
You get what you pay for?

If it was me I would spend a little more and get something that will last (pioneer etc...)

 if you can afford to throw away 150 bucks why not put another 100 towards it right off and get something worth buying

I have never even heard of that company. I am sticking with my Alpine CDA-9855.

I am all for giving the little guy a chance, but I don't like being the guinea pig either, especially when it comes to car stereo stuff. What's the rest of your system look like? If it's all stock or mostly stock, then that thing might just be an upgrade, especially since it can play MP3's, but otherwise, I'd go for a better known brand.

You can get into MP3 capable decks from Crutchfield for less than $120, and that includes the dash kit, wiring harness, and antenna adapter that are going to set you back $40 or so separately.

There are other internet vendors that will have better prices on the deck alone... but when you are shopping for a very inexpensive deck ($150 or less), Crutchfield becomes very competetive because of the free dash kit and wiring.

You might get that deck for $75 or $100 off ebay... but then you have...

- sketchy at best warranty support
- a radio with a good feature set but questionable reliability

For the $50 or so you might save vs. going with a known vendor and decent brand name... is it really worth it?

I have a Dual XM radio in my truck. I picked it up at Walmart after Christmas last year on cleareance for $50 for the whole setup. The XM part works great. The CD player on mine sucks in the cold(found that out yesterday). It kept skipping on a brand new CD. Since I have XM I hardly listen to CD's now so it's not a huge deal. The only reason I bought it was because the XM tuner alone was more than $50 and figured I'd try it. There are some neat features on the radio such as power on volume and individual settings for each source. Mine has single RCA outs and I have it going to my MTX amp for my sub then from the out on the MTX amp to the Sony amp for my mids. The dash speakers I'm running off the deck. This is in my 98 Sonoma, NOT my Camaro.

That was definetly the better move! Your tunes can only sound as good as the source.
