is there any way to make the steering wheel controls work with a alpine CDA-9833?

Have you tired anything like a Pac S-wix, or a Soundgate?

You can use either one. I personally used the pac swi-x.

Yeah it is. I have the same head unit in my other car and I am using it with the pac swi-x. Here is there website for more info www.pac-audio.com

I'm using the Pac as well with the same model alpine 9833. Works and easy to setup.

with the PAC SWIX you can use any radio as long as it has an IR remote... which includes most alpines
