This may be a newb question, but I don't know how to hook up an autometer A/F ratio gauge, it's a 2 1/16 Sport Comp digital, and if I'm right I have to splice it into a O2 sensor. If anyone knows a walkthrough or personally knows how to hook one of these things up that would be great...

there are adapters tot he 02 sensor that some of the vendors------->
sell. the come with a pigtail already installed so you dont cut into the wiring. try LMperformance.com
i'll see if i can find you a link. one thing to remember, the gauge is supposed to "dance" since the 02's are constantly adjusting themselves, so dont be alarmed if you see it hit rich, then back off alot then back to rich again real fast..

that A/F gauge IS for narrow band, not wideband... he doesnt have a wideband reader.. which also needs a wideband O2 sensor.
the gauge itself is, and narrow band readings, are not accurate to say the least. Just because you see it pegged at WOT, doesnt mean there is a problem... its better than being lean at WOT
anyways.. if its showing rich.. it could be at anything less than 14.7 on a wide band reader. you should be at about 12-11 going WOT.. and around 14.7 while at idle.. using that sensor is not going to accurately show you where you are, for that you need an LM1 or wideband equivalent.
i would say you are fine, as long as you are not seeing stoich or lean while doing WOT runs, mine did the same thing, i took mine out because it really didnt do anything for me. for tuning purposes i use my LM1

Ahh ok well then if thats the case I might as well take it out right cause I really don't feel like buyin a new o2 sensor and the only thing I'm really going to be using this for is when I get my turbo setup, but thats not for a few months and it seems to me that all its going to do is read the same thing for now....

LM1 is a type of wide band O2 sensor. its a stand alone kit, comes with the wide band O2 sensor, O2 bung for you to weld into your Y pipe, and hand held reader, along with some software. Cost new is about 375-$400 new.
you have to drill a hole in your Y pipe, weld in the bung, put the wide band sensor in, then run the wire from the O2 sensor, into the cabin using the window..(this is not ment to be a permanent fixture in the car, just for tuning) the hand held unit has a digital read out, and reads in real time, you can also record with it, for playback.
so if you tune your own car, then its a must have. if you take it to a tuner, they use this type (or damn well should be using it) of system.

I had one hooked up to one of my rear 02's before I installed my offroad Y-Pipe. Now it wasn't accurate but it would sweep from lean to rich from idle to rev. It never went all the way rich. Now that I have removed my rear 02's the purple wire is not hooked to anything and it stays all the way over on the rich side all the time. So if your's is doing that. Then the wire is not making good connection. It should sweep from lean to rich. If I was you I would my one of the harness's with the pigtail already installed.
