Default Removing the door panels

Hi all. I am about to attempt to remove my door panels in my ss to toss in the alpines. I have never done a 4th gen....so any advice?

I hate broken clips , and when things dont re-install as they were originally. So I was wondering exactly how the process goes, and what to watch out for.

Thanks.

Just get all the screws out and switch panel then jerk the **** out of the door panel to get it off and shove it down to put it back on.

Biggest problem for me was getting it back on. I found it went fast the second door I did. The top of the door panel has to go over the top lip where the window is, I found if you get it just over the lip and have someone push the door panel towards the bottom, all you have to do is tap with some force on the top of the panel(down) and the panel goes in place.

One thing not mentioned... shove your car in the garage and warm it up for a good long time. The door panels will be easier to work with and the interior door handle clips are less likely to break.

In this cold the plastic gets pretty brittle... ever notice the door handle trim rings selling for $30 on eBay?

It's definetly something that you can do. The doors are VERY EASY compared to a lot of other cars. They are a very easy swap and the factory brackets should hold the speaker you are looking to put in. I would recommend that you pick up a little 20 dollar pack of sound deadening, it'll make a world of difference and you might as well do it while it's ripped apart. Speaking from experience there...

the only thing is watch out for the hooks, they are kinda hard to line up, or so i thought, and I bent one and it broke, but you cant tell once it is on.

I've had my driver's door panel off about 20 times (well, a dozen anyway). It's not at all difficult. Just don't forget to look for screws if it doesn't pull right off. I think that there are five all together.

Thanks this writeup helped me out quite a bit. There is one kind of hidden bolt in the panel that the handle goes in and there is another in the arm rest.

Pry the switch housing out from the top not the back. The plastic is thinner there. I cracked a piece off when I used the back part. Super glue fixed it though and you cant see it unless you really look hard.

When putting it back on make sure you have the bottom tabs in before the top.
