alright i just bought my car and it has the monsoon system in it it sounds alright but i want some more bass. I would prefer not to do anything to the other speakers or amp is there a way I can add an amp and sub to the current system? thanks
Hi if you are looking for alot of extra bass your best bet is to add a 10" or 12" subwoofer and another amp just to power the subwoofer but if you are looking just to add a little bit more bass an amplied bass tube is what you I have one in my car it sounds pretty good better than the monsoon subs to me but its just not enough bass for me it's an 8" 200 watt rampage amplified bass tube I'll let you have it for $50 shipped it's practically brand new and i'll send the original box, manual, warranty papers, and even the wiring to hook it up to your car. LMK.
Tap off the rear head unit outputs at the input harness of the monsoon amp for your signal. Search and wiring color codes can be found here or via google. The amp is right in front of the spare, right where you need the wires anyways.
You'll need a line level converter or a PAC unit to get it stepped down to RCA level unless your amp has high level inputs.
Fused power from the battery, ground at the back, turn-on from the radio.
For minimal impact to use, I'd recommend a stealthbox and a solid 10" / class D amp. It will easily over power a factory system, and allow you to ditch the factory sail panel subs.
add one 12 in. sub and it will be perfect, i got a 12 inch sub i made a box for and it sounds great
if you add the pac, i have read from other members that you don't get the same output as you would running off genuine rca off of a aftermarket radio.
I'd go with an after market radio, its much cleaner install.
also if you need to know how to run the wires through the fire wall for the power cable check out my car website, i got pictures to know what to do to get the wire through
a fosgate T1 sub fed by a thousand watts of fosgate power will get ya about 130db.
Mix it with some good mids and highs and you'll be rockin like dokken.
i just installed a box in my trans am that fits in the back and holds 2 12" subs, the bass is extreme. I recomend that, but if you want just enough bass to get by, the jl stealth box comes with a JL w3 and you will need to get a 500 watt amp to push it, suprinsingly it has very clean bass. BTW, A single Fosgate T1 sub will not get you close to 130 db, that is a very extreme number usually the ones that get that high, have some serious money in their systems.

I got 127.5db at last years F-body gathering with a 10in. Clarion SVC sub in a MTX Thunderform with a Rockford Fosgate 120.2 pushing it bridged mono. It is very easy to get 130db from a stealth enclosure with one 10in. sub. The key is using quality components from a reputable company. No offense blueTA but Rampage is a less than good brand. It may sound ok for awhile but it will not hold up very long and then your doing it over again. I know from experience trying to go the cheap route. My advice is get any stealthbox you can afford. They are all about the same as far as sound. I have had three different ones. JL Audio is too expensive @ $400.00-$500.00 they must be very proud of their enclosure. Get a used stealthbox from ebay and then get a good sub...RF HX2, CDT store on ebay has some awesome CL-series DVC subs, Image Dynamics, Alpine Type-S or R. Names to stay away from...Audiobahn, Boss, Pyramid, Lanzar, Legacy, etc. Good cheap amps are again, RF (which some guy had 300watt RF's for $70.00 w/shipping) which I still run, Power Acoustik, JL Audio E-series amps, I know another guy that sells MTX 5 channel amps for $122.00 w/ shipping and a guarantee, Hifonics makes a powerful amp for the low. Don't be fooled by the 1000watt amps being sold for cheap...they are NOT 1000watts or if they are they not 1000 USEable watts, just a distortion maker. If you shop right you can do sub and amp for around $220.00 and a stealth box for around $100.00 or less so call it $350.00 total (after install kit) and you've got a nice system. PM or emailme if you need help, I'd be glad to show specific examples or links. By the way sorry if someone has some of the names I mentioned above that was not a knock to you or your car. I have been in the car audio game for 18 years and have had alot of experience with certain brands. No offense meant.
