Default Aftermarket Sub Question

Hey everyone...I was wondering if it would be possible to get 2 stealth boxes with a 10in sub in each with an amp for each and have them work fine without having to replace the headunit/anything else in the stock system. I dont really know that much in-depth about car audio so any help would be greatly appreciated and feel free to elaborate on the question if u have more information u think would be useful...Thanks, Jason

yes, what you describe is possible. You wither need an amp with speaker level inputs, or an adapter to convert speaker level to RCA pre-amp level. You will also want an amp with a built in crossover, which most amps made today do have.

not really. I try not to get into specific equipment recommendations.

It's all going to depend on your budget and what level of performance you are expecting from your equipment, as well as any personal preferences or biases you may have.

Everyone, me included, is naturally going to favor equipment that they use, have used, or have experienced first hand and had good experience with. Nothing wrong with that.. but ask the opinions of 10 differnet people, and the likelyhood of being recommended 10 different brands of gear is very high.

That being said.... I recommend JBL equipment.

Thx for the info...i was thinking that i would use the driver/passenger Subthump Stealth boxes, the Subthump Amp Rack, 2 10in Rockford PUNCH subs and then lastly i was wondering what amp would be needed to run those subs and still work with the stock system...my budget for the amp would be around $200...any suggestions?

I am getting my sub put in tomorrow and I am keeping my stock head unit. I think they told me it was a line output converter(not sure). All I know is that it connects to the rear speakers and allows the RCAs to hook up there. It was 20$.

$200 seems a little light to push two Rockford 10s. What is the RMS of the subs?

Well I was referring more along the lines of 2 amps, 1 per box/sub and i would mount them on Subthump's amp rack that hooks up to the back of the car without interfereing with t-top storage...soooo maybe 200 per amp give or take, i dunno? Im looking for recomendations as to what amp/amps i would need to add to use 2 10in rockfords in the stealth boxes with everything else in the car being stock...

F-117HWK,
Please post pics when your done. I'm just running the one 10" MTX W/ the Camaro D-Side Thunderform box. The whole system sounds good, but I'm begining to look at dropping in a second sub. However, I'm not sure the best setup, location, etc. yet. To get good sound with two, I suspect I may have to start over.

It probably wont be done for awhile since im just trying to get a feel for what the best setup for me will be wether it be the 2 stealth boxes or mounting 2 8in subs in the sail panels but either way ill deff post up pics when its done and i am also gonna post pics of my new hood install as i upgraded to a WS9 Outlaw and it looks amazing...thx

Also don't forget that you need to do your airspace calculations before just throwing a sub into a box. A box will have X amount of Cubic feet of space. Make sure you have a sub that can handle that space and handle it well. Some subs favor smaller spaces, other favor the larger volume boxes. You can royally screw yourself up before you even get started with improper selection.

I used to have a 600 watt american legeacy pushing my two alpine type r's. before i upgraded to those, i had some other low model alpines that it was pushing, and i never had any problems. the amp lasted me about 4 years. then i sold my car. best of all, it cost 70 bucks or so shipped off ebay. not sure if it's a "great" amp, but it worked great for me in my third gen.
