Default driver window problems

ok i never roll my windows down (love ac and live in florida) well i went to the track fridaynight and pull up to pay and try to roll my window down but nothing so i had to do the getto open the door crap but when i got home and checked it out this is where im stumped..i know about these window motors takeing craps all the time..but it worked fine went up and down at the normal speed. then pass. window works fine..and when i had the lights on when i pressed the down button the lights didnt dim..but when i did the pass. they did as the window went down..so i was looking around and when i press the down button on the driver window you can hear a clickin under the dash. but nothing on the pass. window..i herd these relays go out sometimes as well..so where exactly is this relay as how much of the dash do i have to dissasemble(sp) and do you think this is what the problem is? and can you buy these at any parts store? sorry for the novel..thanx

Since only the driver's side is affected I would guess that the express down module is the culprit. It is mounted under the dash behind the console in a little pocket just above the transmission tunnel. The part number is 12182126.

There are a couple of places online you can get parts cheaper than at the dealer. (e.g. gmpartsdirect.com).

Your just fvcking around the inevitable dude.
1. The plug on the motor is loose(it happens)
2. You need a new switch.
3. The motor is bad. 50 bucks and a 2 hour install will cover that.
4. Get your money back on that part you just bought and put it towards a switch.

you better do it saturday, no time to do it sunday.
wish i could help, but im not a wiring whiz.
id change out the switch in the panel, or check the connector at the motor. it may have just come loose. its a lil black connector, a pain in the *** to get loose when you need to, but any other time they fall off.
good luck mang. holla if you need a hand.

While you've got that door panel off, try this high tech scientific test procedure... smack the window motor with a hammer. If it starts working again, you need a motor. Seriously.

LOL your window motor is going out buddy. I would get that replaced because eventually its going to stop working. Mine did and it really sucks when it is starting to rain or your just outside a carwash and ohlook my window won't go up. Cost me 400 after bitching out the dealership and I wound up replacing like the whole window motor assembly.

$400 for what?!?!
You can buy a new window motor for $45 - $60 and install it yourself easily in 30min to an hour. Taking into account how much stock parts cost and dealership hourly labor rates....
$60 - $100 for the motor
$80/hr for one hour (minimum charge increment)
Total: $140 - $180
Why did they charge you $400?

I can see where it might come to that. The GM original window motor retails for about $160 and the labor was quoted to me as $140. So by the time you add tax, shop supplies, etc. it would come to between $300 and $400. I've even seen some dealers that will charge shipping on parts they don't have in stock.

It's much cheaper to buy the motor elsewhere and install it yourself (or even pay someone to do the installation if you don't want to mess with it). I recently replaced the driver's side window motor with an ACI one from Advance Auto and I couldn't believe how much faster the window moves now - better than when the car was new.

not everyone can do it in 30 minutes, but thats how it works sometimes.
they go by the book, the book says 9 days..... you get charged for 9 days.
they dont take off labor cause it was fixed faster.
thats business.
