Default What can I get away with?

power wise. I plan on redoing my system in the next couple months and am deciding what I want to do.
FOR SURE I WILL BE USING:
Alpine cde 9852 with the ipod cord KCE 422i
alpine type r 6.5 coaxal speakers, door and sail panel
alpine type s 4" coaxal speaker, rear hatch for fill
These will be run by a mrp f450 400 watt amp

AND MAYBE an Alpine type r 10 in a stealth box run off mrp m650
OR 2 driver and passenger stealth box type r 10 run off a mrd m1005

I will not run an additional battery as i plan on dd this car and making trips to the track on weekends. I will upgrade the alternator if i have to. So my questions are:

Can i get away with running 1400 watts off the stock alt and a single bat?
Can i get away with running 1400 watts off a bigger alt and a single bat?
Can i get away with running 1000 watts off the stock alt and a single bat?
Can i get away with running 1000 watts off a bigger alt and a single bat?

Thanks for your help.
Brandon

if you are getting an amp, why in the world would you replace the 4in speackers? just use 6.5 all the way around, maybe a componet set up front

Memphis at 75x4 + 400x1 runs off my stock alt and single battery w/o a trace of light dimming. I would think you'd have a good chance of running 1,000 watts just fine if you get an efficient class D for most of that 1,000.

You would probably want your total fuse rating on the amps to be under 100-120 amps with full stock.

4" are there for when i open the hatch. I just like the way they sound from the oustide with the tops off, windows down and hatch up when I'm oarked somewhere. I'll probably just fade them out when I'm driving around. But i know a 6.5 components up front would be best but i dont know where to mount the tweets. I've seen some pics of them mounted in the doors in some t/a but nothing I've seen do i think would sound good in camaro as a driver and a passenger. If i saw something I liked i would do it. But as of right now, the system above is what I plan on doing.

I was thinking the driver side stealth would be fine but I'm not sure if I can run both subs. I have read the FAQ's and it seems I would need something like a 190 amp alt. I think I'll just keep it to one until I get the money to buy a new alt.

Any pics of tweet installs in camaros?
Anything wrong with the above?

and it would be either 1000 watt class d or 600 watt class d and a 280 watt class ab. All wattage is rms.

You can just get the Lifetime replacement alternator from Autozone.... you will go through about 2 a year, assuming you have at least 1AWG wiring, and a yellowtop... otherwise it may go sooner.

oh yeah, and you can't let the yellowtop get low, or you can literally kill the alternator in one session...

so with just one amp for the subs and one for the speakers, would i still be goign through 2 a year? And were you talking about a stock replacement or an upgraded alt?

if you want to be a little more gentle on your charging system, be sure to get an amp with a regulated power supply vs. one with an unregulated power supply.

unregulated = more power in, more power out (such as 100w x 2 @12.5v, 150w x 2 @14.4v)
regulated = same output, regardless of power input (such as 100w x 2 @ 10.5v - 14.4v)

also, you will likely be better off getting a single amp with 5 or 6 channels...4 channels for the front/rear speakers, and either the 5th channel or channels 5 & 6 bridged to drive the sub(s). that way, you only require a single power, ground, and remote turn-on wire, which will make installation a whole lot easier.

ditch the rear hatch speakers....you don't need them if you go with full-range speakers in the sail panels

if you put full-range speakers in the sail panels, you will have problems with your imaging being pulled WAY back... I'd recommend putting some bass woofers back in there if possible...

Yeah i was thinking along the same lines as 02z28ls1. I think i may just put in a set of tpye r component 6.5 in the doors and run a single type s/r 10 off my mrp450. Im thinking s because the rms is 300 and the mrp 450 will put out 280 across 2 channels. I think I'll start with that, then buy a new yellowtop and high output alt, and go from there.

Where do you guys put your tweeters?
