I have just been surfin the intraweb for the last couple of hours trying to find a good radar detector. So far the top 3 have been bel rx65 pro the escort 8500 and of course the valentine 1. I have never actually ever purchased a radar detector, but have seen the Val 1 in action in a buddys car that impressed me. I always said when I make my first purchase it would be the VAL 1. Well, upon reviews I have read, the rx65 seems to edge the other 2, plus the rx65 is considerably cheaper. I found the rx65 for around $230 shipped, while most of the Val's run between 300-400 depending on the software version. I was wondering if anyone owns either model and what your opinions are. Or,if you own a different model and like it please speak up.

All of these are good detectors ... escort and V1 are distrubuted by dealers so they are a little more money // any of these are a good choice ... me I choose bel as they have always been good for me and my customers through the years... if money is no object I like the Valentine A I like the directional feature although kinda useless I like it. Lastly I like the escort for size... if you have several vehicles the battery powerded unit is cool Solo2 ... sorry for the ramble but remember this if you are alone and they hit the instant on gun .... they got you
and Laser detection is a joke the light should read pull over ....

Escort 8500 for the win. i have one in my truck and my camaro. they have more than paid for themselves by saving me tickets. definatly get a corded unit if you can. the cordless ones don't detect as well.
