Default Which Subwoofer??

Hey, Just for fun and maybe to help me make up my mind..Which one of these 10" subs would you pair up to a Pioneer DEH-P980bt headunit and powered by either a Alpine MRD-M605 (400 watts x 1 at 4 ohms) (600 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms) or a Kenwood Excelon KAC-X812D (533 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms) (919 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms)......P.S. The sub will be enclosed in a Subthump stealthbox. Thanks for taking the time to help out.

(who would of thought of how much time it takes to plan this kind of stuff out)

I gotta say the L5 because its the L7's lil sibling basically and I have 2 x 15" L7's and couldn't be happier with them. They are some of the best subs that I have heard and can get loud as hell to. I'd either get a Kicker amp or a Mmats amp more than likely. Because my mmats amp has been nothing but quality, And I know kicker amps are quality. If you wanna see my subs they are in the link in my sig.

i have to throw in a recommendation of an mtx 5500...i have just recently finished a system in a ecsb sierra with two of these and i was impressed. i also have two in my car and everybody comments on how it is loud but doesnt sound shitty. i have a 400x1 pheonix gold amp pushing both. the truck has a 1000x1 power acoustik amp and it sounds alot better than i would have expected...

Im not a fan of the subthump stealth personally, very poor fitment and the speakers dont perform like they should. But if you HAVE to have it and can spring for the extra little bit of money go for Kicker L7 and a Kicker mono amp (just dont underpower them, thats not good!!!), high power, full frequency, hard hitting and pretty cheap bang for the buck when searching on ebay Im selling my subthump L7 stealth box and stashing the TTops in the back seat to put two L7 12s in the hatch with about 1.5cuft each. The stealth doesnt let the speaker perform like it should and one ten despite the high power and design just still doesnt rattle my head enough. Hope this helps at all and not just rambling LOL..

Those can actually handle up to 650 watts, thats the sub I would recomend too, I met a guy that has two of those in his Blazer powered by a ED 1ch amp, he said they'r getting 600 watts each. I was blown away by the performance and sound quality I'm actually starting to think there a much better choice than the 10w6v2's, and they cost soo much less!

ED is good stuff. When shopping for subs, I couldn't ignore the specs and rave reviews they were getting.

Ok, thanks to all who have voted and expressed their opinions and comments. I have decided to go with a Elemental Designs 11Ov.2 in a stealthbox. I like how it is recommended for a small enclosure and that I havent heard a complaint from anybody. Im sticking with a stealth box and amp rack, because I want my sub and amp hidden from view. LAST question is what you all think about the Kenwood Excelon KAC-X812D (533 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms) (919 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms) amplifier to power the sub. Im ordering a ED 11Ov.2 dual-4ohm sub to wire it in parallel to get a 2ohm load or 900watts rms from the amp. The amp is CEA compliant so there shouldnt be a doubt for the watts it can put out. What do yall think about this decision any other amplifier suggestions will be appreciated too. Thanks again....

Heres the link to the Kenwood amp... Kenwood KAC-X821D

Thats more power than what its made for, and $400??? Have you looked at ED's amps? http://edesignaudio.com/product.php?...pid=33&cur=USD Get a dual 2ohm ov.2 sub and wire it for a 4ohm load on this amp.

Honestly, I would be very careful setting your gains on that amp using that sub. 900 watts RMS will kill it over time. If you REALLY need to use that amp (I understand because of the $$) I would set your gain using 40, 50, and 60hz test tones with the volume on the deck at max (undistorted, not max **** position) then turn up the gain slowly until you hear distortion or the speaker bottoming out. Then, turn the gain adjustment down 1/8-1/16th of a turn. That is your final gain adjustment. I would not turn on any bass boost or turn up the bass on your deck or EQ, otherwise damage to the speaker may result.

Snootch, Ya that was a concern to me since the ED sub is rated at 500Wrms. I talked to a Elemental Designs tech guy last night and he said to buy the Dual-2ohm sub and wire it in a series to get a 4-ohm load or 533Wrms from the amp. That should hopefully be a good match to not damage the amp or sub....Thanks for all the help, let me know what yall think and ill be ordering later today..(fingers crossed)
