GM-fit aftermarket headunits.....Who has one ?
Just wondering if anyone got any pics of it installed. I would like to buy one of those GM/Chrysler fit HU's, but from reading all the latest issues of Crutchfield, seems the selection is VERY limited.
I dont want a single-din, because they look kinda cheap with the big spacer thing holding it in place.
any suggestions anyone?

I had the Pioneer DEH-P77DH. It has a built in crossover and a 3 band eq adjustable for center freq and Q. Also looks good and has a very small remote.
Since the SS has been built more for speed... it is now in my truck...

got the same headunit, had it im ny 92 bonneville SSE, and now my 98 WS6.
Kept the steering wheel controls with a pac adapter.
Great fit, and good sound.
Currently using the rest of the monsoon system, but ive got all the parts to replace it, just got to find the time.

I had a Alpine CDA D855 in my 1995 Z-28 it's a den and a half size...it looked great. I have yet to put an aftermarket stereo in my 2001 Z-28. Alpine has some great lookin HU for the den and a half size. check some of them out at your local Alpine dealer. goodluck

I was also looking at the DEH-P77DH. It looks great but having a TA, I wanted to keep the factory red illumination. I don't believe they offer the head unit with red display ? DO any stereo guys out there know how to switch it to red illumintion ? Can the the leds be switched inside ?
thanks

I have switched my screen to red, by using a sheet of theatrical gel, here is a pic. It looks awesome at night. and i can get you a piece of the gel if you want, however, its VERY hard to see durning the day.
the led's are not easily switched, as they are part of the button assembly,
I may try painting the back of the buttons a red color, and they should turn out a dim red, but due to the way light works, green is not easily turned to red

Looks very good. You did a great job. iT'S a shame that you can't see it during the day though. If it would be visible during the day, I would do the conversion as well. I guess I'll have to stick to my stock unit Pioneer has to make one for us (the trans ams that is)

This way the regular light bulb will create enough light to hit the colored plastic and give you the green light appearance. If this is the case, you can take off the buttons and switch the colored plexy glass to red and would switch the illuminTION
dON'T KNOW IF this is the case for this radio but usually this is the case for regular ***** and buttons in your car.

unfortunately this radio is not like that
I pluged just the board in and played it, it was many greed led's and one blue one.
I am going to try another color for the display, and try to get better day visability.
