Default Fog Light Relay!

My Fog Light Relay went out last week, so in the mean time I switched my horn relay in for it. I noticed that the switch, when the lights are on, gets hot. Should I take the Horn Relay out and just wait for the fog light one to come in, or can I get away with this?

Be patient and wait, switch it back the way it was.

Though it's only a relay...the foglight relay goes in the spot for the foglight relay and the horn relay goes in the spot for the horn relay for a reason.

In my experience I've only seen 1 good quality relay ever go bad in 10 years. A 20A relay is a 20A relay. As long as the 2 relays had the same pin out and were of the same amperage you shouldn't of had a problem. There is probally gonna be another problem in the car which caused the relay to go bad in the first place. The idea behind the relay in the first place is to take the load off the switch, so if the switch is getting hot you might wanna try to find out why. Sounds like something fishy is going on.

Perhaps all relays are the same, but he did mention something about the switch getting hot with the horn relay in place of the fog light relay(?).
I don't disagree with you that there might be something else causing the relay to go bad. I guess we'll find out when he gets another relay and if that one goes bad also.

Thanks for the help! What can cause a relay to go bad? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" /> My friend says his switch gets hot with the right relay in place? Does anyone else have this problem?

The switch gets hot no matter what.
Three 4th gen F-bodies of experience tell me so.
