I have an 01' SS, and my interior is all black. What is a good deck for a new component system, and a 10" JL W3. It also needs to look good with my all black interior.

Thanks

It's really hard to say, because diffrent decks have diffrent features. Do you want a cool display?, Do you need capability to play Mp3's/WMA files? Are you going to add amplifier(s) to the system later? How many channels are you going to want? Do you want a built in EQ? ETC.... I can offer a few suggestions though, My wife has the kenwood 919 in her truck, and it does all kinds of stuff. but I find the animations on the display a little much at nightime. here's linkage:

Thanks Snootch. I am going to add a component set sometime, and the deck (which ever one I decied on). All I really want is subwoofer control, a cool display, and I want it to match my all black interior. MP3 compatibility would be cool.

You'd probably get better feedback if you told us what you wanted in it.

JR HAWK, how are you liking your HU? I'm getting the 9400mp soon. I played with it in a store and it just reaffirmed my thoughts of dishing out that kind of money.

I like Alpine myself...
good power and the ability to setup the speakers so it sounds as if you are in the center of the speakers instead of just on the left front...
the sub control is advanced on their decks too...

I'm an Alpine man...have been for the last 10 years! I currently have a CDA-7894 in my truck...the lights match the dash well and the all black face looks better than their silly silver ones:

This is the one that I wanted, but couldn't afford--the CDA-7897:

Check www.crutchfield.com they have good prices. I really like my head unit...it's one of the best sounding that I've ever owned! I've had Pioneer and even Nakamichi decks, and I always end up coming back to Alpine.

Good luck in your search!

I have an Alpine CDA-D855 sittin on the mantle in my den. I'm debatin on either puttin it in my camaro or my s-10. I had it in my 95 z-28 drop top before i totalled it <img border="0" alt="[kaboom]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_bomb.gif" /> But I dunno I might put it in my s-10 then go out and buy a new double den Alpine for my Camaro...I dunno what to do....what do you guys think?

Mike, you could probably go with any of the higher end Alpine or Pioneer HUs. These would be my recommendations.

Alpine CDA-7995 I think the blue looks better than the green.
Alpine CDA-7894

Pioneer DEH-840MP
Pioneer DEH-9400MP This is what I'm going with.

Just make sure you shop around for the best prices. Check out:

www.sounddomain.com
www.thezeb.com

Good luck with whatever you choose.
