I still have the stocker in my 02, really have no plans on getting rid of it, but I would like to upgrade so I can play mp3s. But I dont want a blue face, I want the pontiac "amber" theme to stay intact.

 

I have a JVC in my WS6 that you can change colors on and one of the colors is red. I also had a Clarion in my last Mustang that you could do the same thing. I think Panasonic offers a few with the same idea.

 

if you can pick up a used high end alpine from '05, they let you adjust the colors of the buttons through several shades. New models do not do this...

I'm in the same boat you are. I've searched and searched, nothing i have found is good enough for my standards. I used to have an Alpine with the amber/green selectable colors, it was my favorite but it was stolen. I would have to say if you want a quality head unit with amber buttons start serching ebay for a good older alpine. Thats what I've decided to do cause Alpine was the only H/U i was happy with.

 

I have an alpine 9833 that can be changed to match a red interior.

I am all for the panasonic units. Been using them since 2000 and NEVER had a problem....

Just to add to the queston. Are there any 1.5 DIN headunits with the same colors. Only one I found that looks like it would be a good head unit (1.5 DIN) is the pioneer p47 or p77 but it's blue.

ive been searchin for one also, never found one that didn't look cheap, . . my ta came with a panasonic cq-1211u, somethin along those lines, .. . . the buttons are red but the display is blue, . . doesn't look all that bad, . . it still blends in with the red buttons, . .hope this helps

 

i have the perfect head unit in my opinion. It is a sony xplode head unit, i can show u pics but im not sure which model it is. It looks really good and it matches the red interior lights perfectly.

 

yea im goin to buy a unit tomorrow hopefully i got my custom hu mount in the mail today and im also lookin for a red one but i dont want sony.(mom has one in her car and i think its crap) i hope i find something good

 

Yeah go with that Panasonic! I checked it out at the local car audio store, sounds better than my Pioneer 6700mp, and you can vary the colors by over 9,000 different ones. Regular colors are already preset so you dont have to worry about taking forever to find the right color tone.

 

alpine 9855 has 512 dif. colors, i have one, its pretty sweet...

 

I have a Clarion in my Hawk and it matches the dash perfectly.
