Default Automatic Locks when starting car...turn this feature off?

Had to put in a new BCM because the door lock circuit had fried, and now everytime I turn the key to the power position, the doors will automatically lock, then unlock when i turn the key to the off position. It sucks, and I don't see anywhere in the manual or searching on here how to disable it.

It is your viper alarm doing that. Look through that manual.

I thought it would have been something factory because it didn't do this the lock or unlock part before the new BCM, but I"ll try it out and let everybody know.

If you got the correct BCM for your car then it must be the aftermarket alarm because our cars never came with the automatic lock feature that so many newer cars have (thank goodness).

I'll go through the feature programming manual tonight and see if I can find out how to turn them off. It's so annoying!

So, I can't get the Viper 791xv to go into programming mode. I open the door, turn the ignition on, then off, then hold the valet switch down. I never hear any chirps like it says I should. What it actually does is put the car into valet mode. The door pins are hooked up because the alarm instantly goes off if you open either door. Any clues????

I haven't worked with that particular Viper model but other DEI alarms probably work similarly. My Hornet alarm calls for turning the ignition on then off then press the valet switch and release it to enter valet mode. To enter programming mode the sequence is almost the same...open the door, turn the ignition on then off, press the and release the valet switch the number of times corresponding to the feature to be programmed, then press and hold the valet switch and use the remote to change the setting.

Two things come to mind - are you pressing and holding the valet switch after selecting the first programming option? Also, are you starting the sequence before the BCM goes to sleep? The alarm has to see the sequence of the door opening followed immediately by the ignition going on and off. If you're out working on the car with the door open anyway and then try programming, it won't see that sequence.

These are just guesses so take them for what they're worth.
